My PC specs:

Ryzen 5 2600X
Windows 10 Home
32GB Ram (2 x 16GB DDR4 2666)
EVGA GeForce 2060 Super SC Ultra 8GB
HDD: WD Black 1TB, WD Blue 2TB

I swapped my GPU from the Sapphire RX 580 8GB to an EVGA 2060 super, installed the necessary drivers and when I got around to testing the performance on Mirror's Edge, the game consistently crashed after the EA logo. Changing the compatibility didn't work, and (as suggested after searching around for a bit) disabling PhysX wasn't possible (nor practical, I shouldn't have to uninstall it get the game to work).

I did two things, and managed to get it working. First, I went to the control panel, then to "Apps & features", and then clicked on "NVIDIA PhysX (Legacy)". I chose "Modify" and then when the dialogue box came up, I chose the Repair option.

Then, I went into the "Mirror's Edge\Engine\Config" directory and edited the "BaseEngine.ini" file by changing the "bDisablePhysXHardwareSupport=" from True to False. When I started the program again, it said that the BaseEngine.ini file was corrupted, and that I had to reinstall. I then edited the file and set the "bDisablePhysXHardwareSupport=" option back to True. When I ran the program again it finally worked.

I probably should checked if the program was working after the first step, but I can't undo it. So I hope this helps if someone runs into a similar problem.

I found myself in almost exactly the same situation, and the solution worked, thank you very much!
(unrelated, but no SSD? that beast would be even snappier)

No problem.

" but no SSD?" : Nope, this PC was essentially my first PC build (and it was a budget build [B450 Pro Carbon AC Motherboard/700W PSU] with less ram), so a cheap 2TB WD blue for the OS was considerably less expensive than an SSD of equivalent space (whether as a single drive or multiple ones), and it was my intent up upgrade piece by piece if needed. I'd probably get another 2TB or 4TB WD Black/Gold before I'd replace the Windows drive with an SSD.
