Hi guys, I reached the end of the game, im surprised by the low score I got: 34612, even if i find most of silver messages and so...
Never mind, I'm puzzled because the guy on white dress at the end, tell me I still need to confront the impostor(Sheltem) If i want to move on to another world.
The thing is, I stop playing the game for months and I come back so I cant remember if I ever defeat sheltem or not. I try to go to his castle, but I cant pass throw the first door, I have the kings pass , so that's not the issue, the problem is the door is totally close.....I am missing something? Where is he?

EDIT: Nevermind, seems i haven't encounter the impostor yet..... :S Now i did and ended he game and get 428660 :D
Do you guys recommend to level up to transfer the party to MM2 or is a waste of time?

Congrats!

Leveling up the characters won't do anything, since after importing to MM2 they get dropped to level 7.

As to whether it's better to import or not, there has been a recent thread on the topic you might want to read:
http://www.gog.com/forum/might_and_magic_series/finished_might_and_magic_1_should_i_transfer_chars

The players have various opinions on this issue, with the general consensus being "it doesn't really matter".
Thanks :)

I have to admit I really had fun with this game, the graphics are outdated of course but the game play is quite nice, and you can feel the progression, also the open world and the you-can-go-wherever-you-want mechanic is really fresh for this kind of old RPG. I really enjoyed and I cant wait to jump into the second part.

the thing is I kind of would like to continue with this party, since I really got close to those people, even if it was default party, Crag the hack, serena, zenon III, the stupid dwarf which miss like hell and the only thing he had to do which is disable traps, he failed most of the times.....so at the end I really had feelings for all of them :D

But of course I dont want to miss any bit of MM2 and if start with import party jump you to level 7...then im missing 7 levels out of fun.....so im not sure what to do :S

MM2 was balanced for an imported party. Even in the first city lvl 7 characters can run into serious problem, especially if you meet som Jesters that use the party as bowling cones.
If you want to start from level 1 I'd play the Amiga version. In that version you can find items up to +64. In the DOS version the max is +32.

DOS version has such items too. I remember as now, i wasn't fan of MM 2 because it didn't allow to save anywhere, so I cheated my chars (gave them tons of exp and gold) just to see the world. And I remember I was surprised when I saw some "+63" weapon. I think it was from Orc God encounter, which I found just by accident and was surprised at how much HP Orc God had.

Slightly off-topic, my cheated chars had encounters which featured like 200+ enemy units, which was somewhat ridiculous and very time-consuming. I know you could change encounters in option by changing disposition. But what exactly disposition does? Does "inconspicuous" disposition simply stop mobs from scaling in numbers (so you don't have mega-fights with 200 units) or does it have bigger consequences (like encounter rate, weaker types of mobs, etc.)?
By the time you get +32/+64 items, whether you started with a level 1 or 7 becomes a moot point.

I started with level 1 and had no problems. In fact it is arguably more difficult to start with level 7. The game has some scaling of monster levels, and if you start at level 7 you meet tougher monsters without having any good items (while if you start at level 1, by the time you reach level 7 you have some good equipment).

However, all this doesn't really matter once you get out of town. Pretty soon the extra bit of XP you started with becomes inconsequential. I'd say what's more important is whether you love your party and want to continue with it, or grew tired of it and want to create new characters. For me the main reason I started with level 1 is because I love character creation.

Hmm...I was certain the DOS version was capped at +32. Last time I played I never found anything better than +31 (and neither did the CRPG Addict in his playthrough), while I remember finding several items better than +32 when playing the Amiga version.

I think it just affects the chances of random encounters. The amount of enemies you face is dependent on your level. Quiet a nice anti-grinding mechanics. ;-)

By all means, import if you want to keep your party. That's what I did and I still had tons of fun with MM2. MM2 also lets you hire up to two hirelings, which you can do if you want to try out the two new character classes (and hirelings are very useful for certain special quests too).

Starting at level 7 with no equipment might be tougher than starting at level 1, but it was still easier than starting MM1, in my opinion, so you shouldn't have too much trouble. You'll quickly get some decent equipment.

Well, there's only like five steps to the blacksmith. ;-)

I believe you start without any money either....
Nah, imported characters start with enough gold to outfit themselves decently, and even a pittance of gems. I'd recommend importing your party; there's nothing like finally managing to bring your six unequipped Level 1 bozos through a random encounter alive, and then realizing that the monsters you killed didn't drop treasure. (Yeah OK, loot the default party and you get some knives and maybe even a shield. It still bites.)

Fair warning, though: don't expect to use the same six people throughout all of MM2. There are several points where it's helpful (or mandatory!) to adjust your party's class, race, or even gender distribution.
