Ok, I did it again. After installing the GOG version of Might and Magic VII I just take two files from my old localized italian CD: events.lod and new.lod in the DATA folder.

Replacing the GOG files I've got a nearly perfect translated version!
I think it will work with other languages, if anyone would try.

Translations work for GOG editions, Czech language works for both MM6 and MM7.

Yes.
They will only change the in-game text, not the GUI. But better than nothing...

In my localized CD game I can't find the new.lod file (in Data folder)... is it a problem? I would buy the GOG version, but only if I can traslate it.

I'm almost at the end of M&M6, after more than ten years of game. Now I can use gog's.

nella cartella data del cd in italiano non ho trovato il file new.lod, l'altro file si.

Ciao! Con M&M VI trovo new.lod ma non events.lod, ma non so se la procedura sia la stessa, magari cambiano i files. Farò delle prove. Con M&M VII invece trovo entrambe i files all'interno della directory data, una volta installato il gioco in ita da cd. Ora provo a vedere che succede sovrascrivendo l'intera directory (basta rinominare data di gog in data.old per farne un backup, in modo da poterlo ripristinare in un secondo momento).
Edit: copiando l'intera directory sembra funzionare, totalmente in ita.

Seems that copying the entire data directory, the game will be translated in every text part. You can try renaming (gog) data directory in data.old and copying the data directory from the localized installation. You can do the same with sound being sure to copy the soundtrack and anims directory. This works with M&M6 and also M&M7.

Ok allora riassumendo,
per M&M 6 e 7 (presumo anche l'8, quando lo renderanno disponibile),
importare DATA dalla versione ita alla eng/gog per i testi,
importare SOUND per le voci,
importare ANIMS per i video.
Così facendo si traduce tutto.
Per non rischiare, rinominare le directory aggiungendo .old al nome, in modo da fare un backup. Nel caso di M&M 6 bisogna copiare le musiche presenti nella cartella sound della versione eng/gog nella nuova cartella omonima.

Potremmo chiedere agli uomini gog se può loro interessare la possibilità di avere questi files di modo da aggiungerli nell'installer.

Non credo possano farlo... si tratta di versioni localizzate su cui non hanno diritti... forse eviterei ;)

Più che altro, con tutte le differenti localizzazioni, l'installer verrebbe a pesare decisamente troppo.
