I am having problems clearing the Crazed Wizard Cave Quest:


My party is Level 6 and finally managed to beat all thirteen of the M and M1 (was using the map at MM1 grove website) encounters, but when I go back to the wizard he still says that I need to encounter the 13 to win a prize and there's no chests or bags in the room.

I went back and checked and all of the encounters had been beaten. Now the ones in the upper hallway repeat, but I jump west over them then beat them all running eastwards then jumped back over west to turn the quest in, still no reward.

Do you have to beat them all without resting? Because I rested frequently. Also, I'm hoping the Acidic blobs at the end of the slide trap don't count, as that would make 14 and they are nasty to deal with.

You are allowed to rest. However, you're not allowed to leave the area and come back. Did you do it all in one go?

Yes I did do it all in one go without leaving. Also, I tried a couple more times, this time clearing all fifteen fixed (the listed ones plus a batch of cyclops in a 2-by-3 room, and the acidic blobs at the end of that trap). And the wizard still spews his line.

Do I have to beat the endless battles a certain number of times each or something?

I'm hoping there's nothing crucial as a reward because while it is good exp to keep trying I'm getting frustrated and wouldn't mind skipping it. I might keep hitting it for a bit since I need to get access to teleport for a quest and need my sorcerer higher level for that.

Ooooh I finally got it.

Turns out there's another fixed encounter not listed on the grove map... it's a batch of druids behind the middle one of the three vertically arranged 2x2 square rooms on the southeast corner of the cave (behind one of the listed encounters). Once I cleared that and went back, I got the prize.

Now I have two bronze keys, though, since I already did that riddle question answer thing twice.

I've never been so happy to find treasure and in such a low resolution format, lol.

The 3 endless battles are NOT part of the 13 battles the wizard wants you to defeat!

There are 3 more battles you have to win that are not marked on that map. One is the acidic blobs at area 11. The others are in the room you reach from the middle door (after the door fight there is another one in the corner), and in the middle room in the 3 eastern ones (again there is another fight in the corner).

The reward is well worth it. You also get a quest item (that is available from another location too though).

haha, I see you beat me to the solution 5 minutes before I posted this.

I swear I am having the same issue. I will check the latest link and hopefully that will solve the issue for me. But I'm not getting the reward after beating everyhting in the area in a single go.

If anyone still has problems in the future, this map is correct.
