Nice idea man! 18 minutes MM8? I must watch it! I was trying to find Might and Magic 7 speedrun, but I failed. So waiting if someone put it here :)

It looks like someone has made a MM7 speedrun but it's not published yet, until after it has been verified.

I'm looking forward to it too :)

Wow, thanks for this information. I hope it will be soon :)
First speedrun I watched was Morrowind at 4 minutes, or something like that and that was crazy. I know that Might and Magic can't be beaten at few minutes, but I hope it will be quick :)

IMHO, that MMVI one uses cheats as well. Or at the very least, "exploits." He immediately takes advantage of warping from New Sorpigal to the area with the NWC Offices dungeon, gets the +20 permanent stats, and a number of other goodies. While they are technically a non-hacky, non-cheat code part of the game, they weren't intended as a NORMAL part of the game by the developers (e.g., as opposed to the Morrowind speedrun where the players just uses normal gameplay in a very unexpected way!).

My favourite part of a speedrun is watching the runner abuse and warp the game mechanics within an inch of breaking, yet without cheating in a way that the game designers intended. The speedrun does this fantastically (another two are [url=http://speeddemosarchive.com/BaldursGate.html]Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2)

The MM6 cheat area does seem to be designed specifically for that purpose (cheating) but the run still flows fairly well.

I agree with everything you said. That Morrowind speedrun is really something to behold. The MMVI one is good, but I just thought that going to a cheat area right away was a little corny. :^)

Are you joking? First of all this is not a "cheat area". It's part of a game. And second, I find it amusing that exploiting obvious game bugs (and even doing speedrun specifically on bug ridden version 1.0 so that the bugs are still there) is not considered cheating. If that's not a cheat then I'm the pope.

Well, I still think that the NWC Dungeon in MM6 (or at least, the warp that takes you there) is a "cheat." Sort of like the Konami code. Sure it's in the game, it's not a mod or anything like that, but it's not "normal" gameplay.

As to your other comments... you're talking about the Morrowind Speedrun? I didn't know he was exploiting bugs in it. So I stand corrected. I guess that one is a little corny as well. :^)

I'm not trying to make it into a fight here or anything. Just my humble opinion is all. :^)

It's analogous to watching a courtroom drama - even if a defendant is obviously guilty of a crime, they can be acquitted through a technicality of the law. Finding and revealing those technicalities in creative ways is what makes it interesting to watch :)

SDA approved it. Thats the final verdict IMO.
In that case bow before your new pope.
Old thread now, but I recently created a Might and Magic 7 speedrun (38m 50s):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb_yn0Y2j4o

Also, salt created a MM7 run a while ago (1h 17m 50s):

Wouldn't a MM7 speedrun be incredible annoying since.. (to avoid spoilers) **a certain event** in the main questline happens at totally random?
Not really, after the "II. Chapter" with his 3. optional "Mainquests" you have two roads you can choose but at least you have a dark and a light path and the progression is linear. Only the ammount of time betweem triggering and the real Event is random but with "Speedwaiting" at a Inn you can pass time very fast.
