I has been some 25+ years sense I last played this game so my memories are a bit dim. Did the original start in a castle? I found an article on how to adapt the auto mapper to this game but my computer knowledge is not quite up to the task. Is there any 3 party or MOD's that will work with 6-8?

Which original game? MM6, MM7, or MM8? None of them start in a castle. MM7 has you take ownership of a castle during the opening scenario, after hours of play to complete the island contest.

What automapping mod? I've never heard of such a thing. What on earth are you talking about? Be more specific. What's wrong with the mapping in the original three games?

Wait a minute, 25 years? MM6 was released in 1998. Are you talking about one of the games from MM 1-5? Your question makes absolutely no sense without a lot more information.

Did you mean MM1, maybe? The only game without an auto-mapper, and you do start in a town, that could be taken for a castle.
