Okay, so this is likely to be the dumbest question ever, but how do I leave Vertigo in World of Xeen? When I attempt to leave the town the game asks me for word X from the line Y of page Z. I have tried to enter the requested words from the game manual and the cluebook, but those don't work which must mean I'm missing something blatantly obvious.

Thanks for your help.

All answers are in keys 3_5.pdf file in game folder.
I see. Should have looked around a bit more before I asked : ) Thank you very much for the quick reply!

Don't worry, you are not the first person to ask that question ;)
Enjoy your game.
I honestly have no idea why GoG hasn't removed that protection. It's so easy and would save so much trouble.

I don't think it's very easy actually. GOG does not have access to the source code of any of the games in the catalog (this was one of their video answers to frequently asked questions they did a while back), and even if they did it's probably not trivial to find the copy protection bits and remove them. Far easier to just provide the answers, which they have done. They should, however, make it more obvious on the game page where to find the keys, as a lot of new players don't know where to look for them.
Of course it's easy. It's a one byte fix in the CC file, and then all new save files are flagged as having the code already entered. I've detailed it several times and even offered to actually write them a program to do it but no one responds to my emails. :(

Ah, didn't know that. Still, it could be that GOG are not technically allowed to alter the code they are selling, since they don't own it. But, they could... encourage players to use the fix through linking it in a sticky the way they do for mods and such.
