DreamedArtist: 6.Some cutscenes with ninja have some odd lag to them but not major game breaking. Fixable with software option in options menu. Resolution takes a hit.

SirYodaJedi: While software rendering does fix these effects, it's also worth noting that the game crashes on Game Over when using software rendering with GOG's wrapper. DgVoodoo supposedly fixes this (who knows whether it breaks anything else in the process, though).
https://www.gog.com/forum/metal_gear_series/mgs1_crashing_when_using_software_rendering_in_options
Confirming this one two seperate computers. Crashes right after the G in gameover is drawn to screen. I'd rather not have to start swapping wrappers to fix this issue and break others, so if this thread is being monitored by the GOG team just want to let them know it's easy to reproduce and 100% consistent.
My game keeps locking up at Mei Ling while saving. It just hangs on the codec screen but the game itself didn't like crash or freeze, it just gets... stuck.

tfishell: Thanks. Maybe send this to Konami Support?

Thiev: better not, we are responsible for the technical part, not Konami ;)
I'm monitoring this thread and we'll see what can and cannot be addressed next week
Ah that makes sense. I wish you the best; imo GOG may need to start letting lowering expectations towards what they can and can't do for old games (some folks may expect too much, like straight-up ports of games) ;) though for major/"big deal" games like these, I assume ensuring fixes is a high priority.
A lot of filters during cutscenes are missing, i.e. color filters and motion blur when Psycho Mantis first appears, during flashbacks (The short scene where you see Liquid, Ocelot and Mantis with the dead DARPA chief in the torture chamber for example.)

This isn't anything new to the GOG release, these effects were always missing from the PC release, so maybe they're unfixable. Would be cool if they were fixed though.

HAY HAY HAYYYYYY, I SAY HAY!, we all respect GOG and whoever did there work to get this game working great on modern hardware, Bless the persons who managed this. I'm personally fine with the 1.0 version and wont have it any other way. Just put it this way, I GOT TO PLAY MGS 1 ON PC! it's a good feeling AND DRM FREE!!!!!. I'm just monitoring the the problems and shedding light on them not bitching about getting them actually fixed lol.

If any little glitches or freezing can be fixed then awesome! just helping out here..

just to be clear, fwiw my post wasn't specifically directed at you; moreso at some people who expect GOG to work miracles because they may not realize how complex/time-consuming the technical side can be, or because GOG might not do enough to reel in peoples' expectations. I do hope fixes happen if GOG has time and can figure it out of course :)
I do believe that most people expect the game not to lag at all, which it does every time someone is using stealth camo in a cutscene (Ninja, Otacon, etc.), not to crash at all, which it does if you skip certain cutscenes (or upon a Game Over, destroying the panel with the Nikita Launcher on Software mode, to name a few), and their XB1/PS4 controllers to just work out of the box, which they do not.

If nothing else can be fixed, at least these 3 issues absolutely have to get fixed.

I know it's not aimed at me haha pulling ya leg. I don't think anyone here knew GOG was involved with the ports current version. Some might be very passionate about the series and maybe frustrated in the state they are in, expecting something like this to be perfect out of the box. I can see that. but hey at least GOG has acknowledged what's going on, that is a step forward. mgs 2 is a train wreck in terms of keyboard usability and some graphical bugs with bad resolution scaling. Hopefully that one gets more attention over time.

Amazing, Thanks for the fixes and any coming ones. btw, Anything on MGS 2? I tried to run it but my lord it's bad for keyboard users :P. is this game a controller recommended port?

New issue with Metal Gear Solid VR missions game has been posted.

Lag with Stealth mode when playing ninja, this happens on default primary display driver.

Game fps drops like to 55 or something, does not run on solid 60 fps with stealth mode active, minor somewhat noticeable hiccups.

That's a great start. Thanks!

@DreamedArtist

The 1st issue you mentioned in your OP is actually not a bug at all. The reason you move slowly on the PSX version is not because they programmed it in the game. It's because the water ripples FB effect lags the game massively, so it drops to, like, 1/2 framerate on a PSX. And because the PSX syncs the framerate output to the refresh rate, that causes the game to "move slower", instead of skipping frames.

As for MGS2, try using V's fix. It works on the GOG version too, according to certain people. I haven't tested it yet personally.

I have used the V's fix on this version and it works pretty great from the quick testing I did on the Tanker. And thanks for that insight on the water physics ''bug''. Makes me feel more secure about this version in a way

THANK YOU! That basically eliminated about 1/3rd of my problems with this port.

What about directX mode? Any fix or work around for that?

Now in the main menu the game is labeled "Integral". Isn't it the so called fanmade patch? Has it been included in the lastest GOG Patch/Fix? I didn't remember that detail yesterday.

EDIT: Ok, doubts solved, forget it. Integral is the official special version. Greetings

Integral was the japan-only PS1 re-release of the international version with additional extras and features...which the PC port was based on. (While removing some features again.) It was always called Integral on PC.
