Will we be geting the Mafia Definitive Editions like people who bought it on Steam?
No posts in this topic were marked as the solution yet. If you can help, add your reply
Yep, saw definitive edition comming and steam users get for free. I highly doubt gog users will get it. They need verification that SAME user has it on gog which means linking accounts and even then i doubt steam would allow it.
When bannerlord was coming out steam users got extra 10% discount while gog users got shit. It was not big deal but a thorn in the eye. This shit is just stupid and will happen even more. Iam lifting my hands from this store. Every game i could buy on gog i bought on gog, there were downsides to this like no steam workshop support for easier mods but this is too much, not worth the investment if for quite same price you can get the game on steam

I don´t get what you are trying to tell us...
...yes, I also do doubt that we´ll get the update. Because well, they are no big supporters of GOG.
But I don´t get your argumentation: Why are you talking about linking accounts Steam → GOG and so on? The Mafia Series already is on GOG.
Anyways, regarding linking accounts: Never heard of GOG Connect? Even that is possible...
...so, in general: If 2K wants it, it´ll work.
Mafia 1 remake isn't free as far as I know as it's a new version of the game, but Mafia 2+3 is just getting updated with better graphics for those who allready on the games.
But yeah, I also wonder if we are getting the updates.

There's obviously no Steam Workshop support on GoG. It's not the same system.
Btw, it's not hard to add mods to a game.

Yeah but some games, have mods on steam workshop only, so you cant get mod if you dont own game on steam, didnt have big issues with this so far but it can be

Yes gog connect works with steam but steam doesnt work with gog so how will you connect steam account to gog account?
So there is no way that you can get steam definitive edition if you own game on gog. solution is that they release game on gog but that wont happen, at least not in time to give it for free if you own old game.

My message is, gog has too many problems, its age of remasters and if any new free remasters come iam sure gog wont get them so too bad, steam wins

You can download Steam Workshop mods without Steam. There are websites that do it and you don't even need an account or anything, just the URL of the Workshop mod. You can then just apply the mod manually, yourself.

But if Steam owners of Mafia 2+3 get upgraded versions on Steam, then 2K could choose to allow GOG owners of Mafia 2+3 to get upgraded versions on GOG. It's up to 2K, and I would hope that GOG would be negotiating this with them, but at the end of the day it really is 2K's decision.

While this is true some games like Darkest Dungeon will only let you download them, through a website, if you own the game on Steam. Of course you can just buy the game on Steam and then grab the mods you want through the site and then refund the game- I've done this several times as that particular game had numerous mods that weren't available on The Nexus.

What Darkest Dungeon mods, exactly? If they are on Steam Workshop then wouldn't this site let you download them?

Last time I tried, which was admittedly awhile ago, no Steam Workshop download site could grab mods for that particular game. I don't know how many other games are like this but those sites work fine for most games I've tried.
Mafia 3 Definitive on Steam is identical to Mafia 3 Deluxe here on GOG, beat for beat.

As far as I can tell, the only version of Mafia 2 that has ever been sold on GOG is the Director's Cut, which already includes all DLC, so it would be easy to tell who owns the complete edition.

yeah i know its 2K's decision and its their decision to release it on steam too, i dont get your point. My point is, if new game is released, its released on steam and in low chance on gog also. So why would i buy games on gog if it means struggle for me later down the road. For example as I said, i have cities skylines and lots of mods are on steam workshop only and getting them is possible but a hustle. so for example if game is released on gog also i couldnt get all the mods. For example have every mount and blade game on gog, yet i did not recieve extra discount because of it, only steam users got it, now mafia also. You see? for same price you get less support.
2K has had okay support for gog but it doesn't really do Day 1 releases. I expect we'll get the definitive edition upgrades for Mafia 2 and 3 but not for 1 as it is a remake and not just a graphics "enhancement".

Sadly, we'll probably only get the remake a few years down the line.

I think 2K will add it later when they remember they also have GOG to care about.

From the looks of it, the game only slightly improves graphics but does require 45 GB. It's really remastered only for console players.
So don't worry, just grab Remastered mod and you'll have the same effect.

Pretty emotional and stupid argument. GOG has received plenty of support from developers for re-released and remastered video games. Beside who said 2K won't give the same treatment for GOG? Perhaps not on day 1, but they haven't confirmed anything yet.

Let's not forget 2K are big supporter of GOG business model since years back as evident with the rising of their modern catalogue here. Anyway, the rest of your point (Steam Workshop) is not relevant to this discussion. GOG are not hiding anything from their customer and has been pretty explicit when a said game has less support or features than the other stores.
I think Mafia 3: Definitive Edition is only the game + all DLCs. I don't understand how such deal would be impossible to implement on GoG. I'm disappointed.
