all mafia 3---

Mafia 3 - districts - if you find that you have to kill cassandra, the next time you have to assign a district will mean a game breaking bug. you can't progress. no workarounds.

can't proceed during boxing match - your "escort" will be locked behind the doors when you enter the building, from the main menu, "load checkpoint". continue as normal.

random freeze - restart the game

mafia 3 definitive - not currently available on gog. removed some radio station content.

Praise the Lord I did not have this bug! Cassandra and Burke have been dealt with.

Missing missions (The locations of the drug resupply boats (French Ward) did not appear on map after interrogating pushers.)
-> load checkpoint or restart game
mafia 3 definitive on steam has removed some radio station content. keep away. leave our original downloads alone. we don't want definitive on gog

I made a backup copy of an installed unmodified GOG version to prevent just that. The same happened to Mafia 1 and Mafia 2 after a while, so I prepared :)

Honestly, Mafia 3: Original and Mafia 3: Definitive should be separate entries on every digital download service period, no matter where it's sold - GOG or Steam.

That's the biggest problem w/ a lot of these re-releases and so-called "upgraded versions," is the new one over-writes the old version.

Mafia 2 on Steam has it right - Mafia 2: Classic and Mafia 2: Definitive are two separate entries on Steam.

It's probably only a matter of time, until Mafia 3: Definitive gets probably fixed officially (as it's said to be buggy) and someone mods the old & missing music back into Mafia 3: Definitive.

Well, the "classic" version is not "classic" at all. It already lost some of it's music about a year ago. Licences expired, Songs were removed. The same happened to Mafia 1.

It didn't happen on GOG, because the GOG version was released AFTER that and never contained the expired songs.

Both steam and GoG versions can be modded back into their former glory.

Now they do the same to Mafia 3 and call it Definitive Edition.

And yes ... there SHALL be mods!

"True. You've got a point" @ the music point/situation.

Getting technical here!

M2: Classic might not be the oldest & most "Classic" version for M2 (with the music), but at least they didn't over-write that version w/ the Definitive and made Definitive a separate entry.

I really wish they made M3: Classic (or "Somewhat Classic") and M3: Definitive separate entries on Steam.

M2 Classic has mods to fix the music problem; and hopefully M3: Definitive winds up down that route.

They really messed up the M3 Definitive Edition thing on Steam.
Ok, so they removed music. But apart from that the game should be identical to our Deluxe version, one might thing. However ...the game lags and crashes. According to GameStar, there is a unused raw map of Berlin in the game now, dataminers found it. It is suspected that it belongs to another game.
When I read that I was very stunned. I rarely heared of stranger ways to mess up a software release.

So whatever you do ... keep your GOG offline installers or create a backup copy which won't get touched by Galaxy. Then you should be safe.

I don't have M3 currently on GOG, unfortunately. I only have that on Steam.

Supposedly, yes - some songs were removed from M3 with M3 Definitive - https://steamcommunity.com/app/360430/discussions/0/2244427453109535754/

Yes, it's rumored the Berlin map is from 1980's spy game Rhapsody, which got cancelled. More on that in the Kotaku article here - https://kotaku.com/how-the-makers-of-mafia-iii-lost-their-way-1825242177

Yeah, I was just amazed that a developer manages to mix up 2 gamecode branches so badly. Git Auto-Merge FTW

Btw, I was told it is possible to roll back to previous game versions, the complete game history should be avaiable.
(don't remember how, you'll have to look that up).
So roll back to the previous version, copy the folder to a different location and play it from there. The launcher won't touch it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hangar 13 put the Berlin map in there, to make a point: that they still want to make this Rhapsody game.

Or were hinting that at some point, 2K approved of them doing Rhapsody for reals this time.

Or if they want to confirm the rumors of its former existence.

Who knows. [shrug]
