Can someone give me a brief run down of the strengths and weaknesses of the 4 characters in the game and best way they should be played? I'm playing Kieran currently and I feel like I barely do any damage especially compared to Baccata. I realize he can dual wield but man the difference is ridiculous. I'm also unsure if I should be using melee weapons or ranged since I assume he is a rogue type of character.

Picking any character does not block you from doing any quest inside the game, but does affect combat a bit.

Michael - Warrior
Kieran - Rogue
Ak'shel - Wizard
Conrad - All-rounder

I think the general consensus is that Ak'shel is the strongest choice, because most of the other party members you pick up along the way are stronger warriors. However, due to a quirk in the way that magic works, Michael's spells actually do more damage than Ak'shel's (he just runs out of mana quickly).

Kieran has faster recovery time than the others, so his lack of damage should be compensated by faster attacks. However, I also find that Baccata ends up doing far more DPS than any of the player characters available.

I'm not sure if Kieran does more ranged damage than the others. I'd probably just recommend that you play whatever style you enjoy and not be too concerned about it :)
