There's no option for the d-pad
Hitting right goes up and left goes down :c

On the main menu, go down to "Exit" then make the selection go right. This "SYSTEM CONTROLS" option should allow you to re-map the directional inputs, confirm and cancel.

This doesn't work, at least for me. Anytime I try to change an input it just unbinds it completely. If I want to use the Dpad, I can't get a DS4 working at all.

Oddly my fightstick started working immediately, but that's more of a hassle.

EDIT: After trying to get the PS4 contorller working for an hour more, I realize the app is just screwed upp.

First, La Mulana doesn't like the Dpad.

There were two potential fixes:

1)Use Joy to key and set the dpad as keyboard buttons
2) Use the DS4Windows app and rebind Dpad to left stick

Neither of those work because La Mulana takes control of the controller away from any other app that is running. If I bound the Cross button to Key Z, it would register both as Z and Cross. But there is more.

You can't edit the buttons in LM's System Settings, so you gotta just stick with the defaults and base it off of that.

Also, in controls settings you cannot assign several buttons to the same move, ie not X to both Jump and Attack.

BUT several inputs seem to be reading the same button, both Square and X count as Button 0 for some reason, even though they don't in System settings.

So the only working option for DS4 is to use no emulation programs and just plug it in native BUT you then can't use the Dpad. Thus a worthless option for me.

Otherwise, there's gotta be a way to stop LM2 from over-riding controller emulation software. I don't know what it is.

In conclusion, this is the most bizarrely configured control binding system I have ever seen.

I have also huge issues with the DS4 controller. I just wrote the support to request a refund. Not really in the mood to tinker around with something that should work out of the box.
You can't edit the directional mappings in-game, but you can edit them out-of-game.

To get the DualShock 4's D-pad working, edit the file at

%HOME%/AppData/LocalLow/NIGORO/LaMulana2/Config/keyconfig.xml

and replace all occurrences of "VERTICALDOWN" with "AX7L", "VERTICALUP" with "AX7H", "HORIZONTALLEFT" with "AX6L", and "HORIZONTALRIGHT" with "AX6H".
