I'm having a (probably related, based on what google tells me) issue - the scripting file seems to be broken, and I am unable to interact with anything on the upper Hadar map.

I sent in a technical support request as well, but does anyone here have a fix?

I'm having the exact same problem. Cannot interact with anything in Upper Hadar.
And this is the third time I'm playing the GOG game. The first two times (2011 and 2013) I had no such problem, so I assume it's a bug that appeared in one of the updates since 2013.
Did you get a reply from support?

UPDATE: Found the following in GOG's knowledgebase, which seems to solve the issue:

I also ran into this problem and found a separate solution on this other forum thread, which worked for me.
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=5623&page=3

Solution is:
Download the following link and extract the three files to C:\GOG Games\Kings Bounty - The Legend\sessions\base\

http://childofbhaal.chez-alice.fr/OperationKordar.rar

Is there any way to attach the RAR file to this forum post, just in case it disappears from that location at some point?

Thank you. rmeakins.
Will help future generations, as I am mostly past Hadar by now.

As for attaching the rar file: simply change its extension to jpg, attach it, and add a note that says one has to change its extension back to rar to use. I expect this should work. I do it regularly with txt files.

Thanks - rar file attached, just rename operationkordarr.jpg to OperationKordar.rar then extract to:
C:\GOG Games\Kings Bounty - The Legend\sessions\base\

Disclaimer: I didn't create these files, but can confirm that they fixed the problem for me, where Upper Hadar events failed to trigger when clicking on them

Lexor: Heh, ok :(

About gamesaves - even if I get them to work, I probably will wait for official info about "why exe was just cracked" and "how I can be sure that this action has not caused any impossible to finish quests to appear". I've played a lot in KB, this is my favorite game here, so I'd hate to have some new bugs again after this very unprofessional form of patching. I'd be very frustrated at this very moment.
Did this ever get sorted out that you're aware of? >_>

Bad news: No, they didn't. Because of these bugs I stopped playing KB, and even I loved the game I stay away from it (and not only from Legend - from the whole series as well) - GOG's failure was very frustrating and sad for me.

Sort of good news: if you started new game after they removed cracked exe they used before you *probably* will not encounter these bugs.
I've noticed that links in my first post are broken, because original topic was moved to forum archive by GOG. But it is still there, so I've corrected them and they should work now.

My original topic is now here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general_archive/kings_bounty_gog_version_is_bugged
Thanks for rar. playing orcs on the march now, look forward to finishing legend! thanks again!

This worked for me too. The Gog fix of replacing kb.exe with an older version didn't.

Thank you!

Lexor:
Good to know before playing. Will stick to the Steam versions (as the later KB games have achievements not available on the GOG versions).

Unfortunate.

This topic is old, maybe it's fixed.

I just wanted to install the game with a fresh downloaded offline installer, and game main menu says it's "build 34,387".
Sooo... I haven't followed exactly all this story, but... isn't this an outdated version which, if I understood well may contains still some bugs ?

- Should I install the patch's files from OperationKordar.rar as suggested here ? https://www.gog.com/forum/kings_bounty_series/gogs_kings_bounty_the_legend_v1_7_build_35396_has_some_serious_bugs/post33
- Or use Atari's .exe which is build 35234, as suggested here : https://www.gog.com/forum/kings_bounty_series/kings_bounty_the_legend_reverting_to_version_16/post5 and https://www.gog.com/forum/kings_bounty_series/kbtl_how_to_load_the_game_after_the_upper_hadar_solution/post5
- Or simply contact GOG's support (or 1C publishing ?) to ask them if there could be an official update of the game ?
- Or play the game and wait to see if I encounter a bug ?

That would be my choice probably. The bugged version was 35396 - but it was version where GOG used crack to make the game DRM-free and that's why (I think) game reacted with these bugs I mentioned.

I was so sad at that time (as I played it a lot so I "wasted" a lot of time = my savegames were not compatible with older, not cracked version which was released on GOG after my complains) that I've not played the game since this incident.

Oh, I understand this feeling well and that's quite sad to hear... I hope that next time, when you'll finally play it again it'll be with as few issues as possible this time !
I'll do this way, keep the game as it is and see what happens :) Thanks !
