badsector: I decided to play a bit of Kingpin but my resolution (1920x1080) wasn't supported by the ingame menu. Using the instructions from the other thread i figured out where the resolution is coded in the game's executable. Instead of hardcoding them myself (and because i might want to play using another resolution at some point in the future) i decided to write a small utility that patches the game's executable without a need for a hex editor, etc.
It worked for me but the game is in window mode and i can't seem to put it back to full screen, for some reason.
edit: nvm managed to ALT+ENTER after putting "enable alt-tab" to yes.

I found where in the Quake2.exe the 90deg cap for weapon display is located, and changed it to 179deg. I plan to do the same with Kingpin (Quake 2 engine.) I was going to do it to the original unmodified kingpin.exe that's only 368 kb, but I don't know how to disable the cd check. So I plan to alter the 384 kb kingpin.exe that GOG provides. The Steam kingpin.exe is 700+ kb, and locks up with the slightest changes so I'm going to steer clear of that one!

I plan to do the same resolutions, as I did with Quake 2.

Wow, found it fast, this changes 90 to 179, so now the weap shows at high FOV
Change 4C510 from 00 00 B4 42 to 00 00 33 43

EDIT1: Just discovered that kingpin only has gl_mode 0-6 while quake2 0-9.

EDIT2: Done with the res and fov modifications, GOG doesn't want me sharing links though.

Some more posts and you'll be able to post links.
Thanks for this. This game is a hidden gem.
Does this works for 1360x768 too? because i already found two of the so called "fix" that go until big resolutions, but none of them have the one i need. I really want to play this but comes with a lot of flaws, i also had to download Rags2Riches

The Monkey Harris patch supports 1360 x 768.
It also has many tweaks and fixes.

It worked, thank you! Now i have another question, i installed the "Rags2Riches" mod (i never played the game before btw) and the textures of characters all move like if they were next to a fire, they have like a "heat" effect, is this normal? The controls are not very good either, sadly

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems like that thing with the textures is from the game, now i have other issue: if i talk to a character, only the character speaks, not mine, like at the very start when that guy asks you for a dollar, i saw in walktroughs that the protagonist talks back, but not here...

EDIT 2: How i am supposed to give the dolalr to the guy from the start? There are no tutorials or way of knowing how to do that

Hi,

In order to speak to the NPC's In game you need to look at them and press Y for positive or X for negative response.

Once you have $1 go back to him and press Y and he will give you the crowbar. If you kill the two NPC's nearby the girl has $1 on her. To loot dead bodies crouch and press your activate key (default is F) pointing at the dead body.

If you haven't read the manual which, is only a few pages but gives you the basic info you need, then grab it from the Kingpin goodies.

If you want to try multiplayer then we play every Thursday and Sunday night, all welcome, lots of new ppl joining all the time :)
