It is such a disappointment for a game based on medieval period like this for the developers to alienate 3rd person players. This game would have been a good rival to Witcher, Skyrim, and Assasins Odessey. Unfortunately the developer of this game seems to be arrogant and narrow minded who think that by making this game feel realistic is cool. Such a poor decision on their part. It feels like the KCD developers are out of touch with what game concepts are working and trending. I am very critical of this game, and i really dislike the developers for not making this game a 3rd person and this is the very reason why i highly discourage buying this game until they decide to add create a 3rd person option. the following is a list of 10 what makes this game terrible.

1. NO 3rd person game play option!!. sadly i cannot play the game i get dizzy with first person game play
2. What is the point of bragging about how cool the armor look, the player cannot even enjoy looking at it, all you see is your sword, your gloves and hands
3. Limited saves, can only save on certain INN and by using that limited save potion
4. Developers are soo narrow minded otherwise they would have added a 3rd person option on this game?If not hopefully the developer will make a 3rd person game.
5. Lock Picking is a nightmare
6. Combat mechanic is horrendous and it seems its only designed for 1 vs 1 play. When fighting multiple enemies its very hard to see the enemy as they try to surround you and attack from the side.

I understand that some don't like the game as is. It's very different from the (as you say) trendy games. I offer some counterpoints:
- For me first person is much more immersive. If you really want to see what you look like, open the inventory screen.
- The limited saves isn't that bad, there are lots of autosaves and beds that save your game. If you really hate it, there's been mods that allow saving anywhere from day 1. I do agree that this could easily have been an option. Oh well.
- Lock picking is very easy. I don't understand why people find it this hard? It's not a plus for this game though, but I've seen much worse (Elder Scrolls)
- Combat is fantastic, there is no other game that lets you fight this close to a realistic melee. You have to consider your positioning vs your enemies, keep an eye out for countermoves, feints. You have to strategize.

This game is not you average action rpg. This is as close as it gets to a medieval life simulator: you ARE Henry. You suck in the beginning because you start out as a lazy blacksmiths boy. This game is something different and I like that.

If I want to play a game like the witcher, I play the witcher (which I like a lot) and if I want to play a game like Skyrim for my fantasy power trip, I still have Skyrim.

1. 1st person is more immersive, it gives you a better "inworld" feel and without it, you wouldn't be able to have vision obstructed by helmets with visors (though they should be opened during conversations ...). As much as I like OTS perspective, first person feels better in KDC.
2. You can see yourself during conversations and in inventory menu. The only thing that is lacking is previewing items similar for F4.
3. This again was to increase immersion, to do things and deal with consequences. Introducing "save potions" totally destroyed that. Now, you can just make hundrets of potions and increase alchemy in the process. Remember that in Ishar you had to pay 1000 gold to save the game.
4. I really hope that they don't include 3rd person view (officially), but I think there was a mod allowing that.
5. Lock picking is very easy, much easier than in Morrowind/Oblivion/ets. Even in first patches it was easy. Just turn lock and move mouse accordingly. Elegant and easy. It's causing problems only on controllers.
6. Combat is awsome. One of the best in computer games. I know why you don't like, but all those games presented combat in THE wrong way. Remember that nec Hercules contra plures. 1vs1 combat is excelent, but when combating multiple enemies, you have to be aware of your suroundings, and you really HAVE to cover your back. I love how the enemies are trying to flank you and ... you from behind :) Just use bow and arrow to even the odds when they are away and closing and try to dispatch the weakest enemies first. Combat is still simplified compared to real combat, but if it were to be realistic, it wouldn't be playable and enjoyable.

My own critical opinion of the game is that – apparently – it’s quite unstable for some people. It works swell for me, but I see reports of serious bugs on this forum. Buyers beware.

In regards to your points 3 and 5: those mechanics can be modded out. I run a version with unlimited non-alcohol saving, for example.

In regards to point 6 – that’s intentional. Henry is supposed to be a village yokel without combat experience, so early on combat is supposed to be dangerous in general. As he gets better at combat and gets better armour, fights will get substantially easier (I got to a point when I confidently took on fights 4 versus 1). However in a group brawl people would always normally want to find your weak spot, flank you, etc., so it makes perfect sense that they try to do that. Some other games make combat much easier, by effectively making enemies wait for “their turn”, so you’ll feel like a great big hero who slaughtered dozens effortlessly, but here players are supposed to see running away (and sometimes even surrendering) as an actual choice they might have to make. All’s fair in war, after all.

Most importantly: while it’s unfortunate that the game’s method of presentation makes it unplayable for you, RPGs have a proud and old tradition of being in 1st person view – it’s a valid artistic choice. What makes you think 1st person is “arrogant” (rather than just annoying or unplayable to you)?
I'll say that initially I began looking at this because it made itself sound like the RPG aspect was front and center, but the more I read makes it sound like the twitch-action gameplay is front and center with RPG being the forgotten excuse to make a game.

No, the tradition has always been 3rd person but twitch-gameplay action-"Stat based character progression games" switched to first person for the more intense action feel that comes with first person. The meaning of "RPG" has changed quite a bit after videogamers took over the term. Now people play "RPGs" to min-max a build and rain chaos upon everyone. The more I read here, the less it sounds like this game is any different.

Morrowind was a much more pure RPG than Oblivion+, there were no minigames it was just use a lock pick and if your skill + roll beats the lock then you unlocked the door. Minigames really need to die, more often than not minigames are just a way for people who do not have the skill levels to do an action manage to succeed in that action by winning the minigame.

What classic-style turn-based RPG doesn't have those features? What you're REALLY complementing is the twitchy non-rpg action gameplay.
I generally play with 3rd person perspective when given the option and sympathize if it is a matter of motion sickness or some other (non-gaming preferential) reason that causes someone to not want 1st person. That said, I think this game is a stunning achievement and I continue to be more and more impressed. the fact that a game of this scope is here, even got me to get over my own butthurt about offline installers not being updated in the past. Warhorse did a hell of a job with this game. That said, I love difficulty and realism in RPGs so the things that commonly get criticized like limited saves or a weak character in the beginning, are viewed as big positives by me. To each his own, but let's hope that there are more games like Kingdom Come:Deliverance that come out on GOG in the future...whether 1st person or 3rd person.
