Is there a way to specifically align my engines vertically? I know the tool is there to align them around the ship so they are equally spread out, like so https://imgur.com/a/AdV17, but what about making sure they are the same height.

The pic is just an example using some Hammers but it can apply to anything. I have one Hammer with three more attached onto it. Right now it seems the only way all four engines are level with each other is to try to eyeball it but that still leaves room for error and if the three outer engines are further up, or lower, than the middle one, that can cause problems. Any way to be more exact?

That nuke symbol at the bottom left should be what you;re looking for. Let's you align parts as a group.

Or at least that's how I understood it from the Let's Plays I;ve watched.

That's horizontal, not vertical.

As i told you in the chat a couple of days ago, what you're looking for is the "Move" tool. You must also set "Snap" (next to the symmetry tool) to "On", meaning it must depict a rectangle rather than a circle, and this in turn will enable you to move whatever parts you want in increments. From then on it's very easy to align parts vertically. If you don't set "Snap" to On, you won't be able to move parts in increments and it will be difficult to align them vertically be eyeballing them, as you have already experienced.

If you still have problems by the time i return back home, i'll post some screenshots here to make it more clear. ;)

You could just edit your post and paste what i've told you on the PM. :P I thought you've already figured it out by now and if drmike didn't bumped the thread, i wouldn't have bothered to write the same things over here. :P I'm waiting to see what you'll build, don't forget to post your spacerocketthing in the links below:
