It came to the attention of a number of Steam users that several games were using a middleware package called Red Shell to track users web browsing behaviour for marketing purposes (link). Among the games found to be using this was Kerbal Space Program. Unlike with other high-profile publishers found using Red Shell, 2K have yet to commit to its removal, from KSP or Civ VI which has also been found to be using it.

patch 1.4.4 changlog:
+++Miscellaneous
* Added internal ability to filter and display game settings by DLC Expansion.
* Removed Red Shell.

That prevents it from being added to a yet-to-be-made-DLC mix but that might get it added to mods locked on Steam.
* Added Steam Workshop support for craft files.
* Added Steam cloud support for saves (Career, Science and Sandbox) and craft files, as well as helper files.

Just verified that the Red Shell DLL is gone in Galaxy's version of 1.4.4.

Interestingly enough, there are no patch notes in Galaxy for it, just 1.4.3.
