I just downloaded JP3: Legacy of Time, it installed perfectly fine, but when i try to run it, it just gives me the error message "Directdraw could not initialize, Program will now terminate"
I've tried copying different versions of ddraw.dll to various places (an old trick from the 98/xp days that usually worked) and still nothing.
I'm running win7 professional x64 with 4gigs of ram and a Geforce GTS450, my system is very healthy and in good shape and has had almost no problems running anything else...
I love this game and miss it so much, help!

First, try running the game as an administrator. You'll do this by right-clicking on the shortcut for the game and selecting "Run as Administrator" from the menu which appears. A pop-up window will ask you whether to allow the program to run; click "Yes".

Second, try installing , a free DirectDraw replacement which is presently in its alpha stages. You can download it [url=http://www.williamfeely.info/download/DXGL-0.2.0-win32.exe]here. I don't guarantee it'll work, however, and I don't have a copy of the game to verify.

I tried using that program but now the game asks for the game DVD
After adoing a quick google search for this game here is how you can fix it. I have Windows 10 x64.

Go to where the game is installed, right click the shorcut created by GOG
*click Properties
*go to the Compatibility tab
*then check the following two boxes:
-"Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution"
-"Run this program as an administrator"

I had the same problem on my machine recently and all I did was to select to run the application in compatibility mode for Windows 7, so if the above options don't work for some reason, it's something else to try also.
