When Choosing your Merc do the answers give you the same results as in JA2? and can females use Martial Arts?

I can answer the first part - no, they are different questions.

I have no idea about the second, I just assumed they could.

Females can't learn Martial Arts and neither can big people. There are no animations for those sprites.
