I was wondering if the version of Jagged Alliance 2 sold on GoG.com was the Gold version and, if it is not, if re-buying it in that form (I've got the games from here already) would be a good idea. Is there any real reason to? Is the Gold version that much better?

JA2 Gold Pack contains the standalone expansion JA2: Unfinished Business, which you can also get here on GOG.

Basically if you already have JA2, getting JA2 Unfinished Business would be all you need to have the same content of JA2 Gold Pack.
JA2 Unfinished Business also comes with a campaign editor.

The gold pack also added weapons and bug fixes from unfinished business to the main game. This site sells the gold version, as do all of the other digital distributors.

Does anyone know if this is actually true? I'm trying to decide between the GOG release of JA2 and UB or the gold version over at GamersGate. From Wiki, it seems that the Gold release actually is slightly different than just the two together. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

JA2 Gold has Jagged Alliance 2 version 1.12 and Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business version 1.01. The original box came with 2 cds, one containing JA2 and one containing JA2:UB, with no content overlap.

If there are any bugfixes from JA2:UB 1.01, they have been added to the main game in patch 1.12, which is both the version of JA2 Gold and the version GOG sells.

As for extra items, the only items I know from UB that were added to JA2 are those found in the unofficial 1.13.

My suggestion would be to grab them from wherever you feel like (gog!) and then after a few playthroughs to grab the 1.13 patch to discover a whole new world. Should you need any more info about the 1.13 patch, drop me a PM.
