Why does gog version doesn't have multiplayer?

I think multiplayer needs some kind of DRM.
That's why DRM-free version have no multiplayer or DLC which are used in multiplayer.
Even Ironclad Deluxe from Humble Bundle lacked multiplayer while it's steam version came with all DLC along with Spacechem.

Despite being years late, I have to reply to this : nothing forces multiplayer to have DRM. It's just part of the tracking frenzy that's almost everywhere nowadays.
