Awesome... thank you for the great work. I wasn't able to set the resolution above 640x480 without rainbow textures. I am running at 1024x768 okay now. Does the original glide launcher force 640x480 on all systems?
PC specs:
Win 7 64 bit, sp not applied
AMD Phenom II X4 3.2 ghz
Nvidia GTX 460
8 gigs memory
Did NOT apply the June 2010 DirectX runtime package

hip63: UPDATED! New I'76 Arsenal Launcher with bug fixes

I'76 Launcher v1.5 (without dgVoodoo support)
http://www.filefront.com/16096693/I76_Launcher_v15_Setup.exe

The purpose of the Launcher is to help players get I'76 and Nitro running with the best performance.

Even though GOG.com did their best to get I'76 Arsenal working on modern operating systems and modern hardware, there are still several shortcoming to game play that GOG.com did not correct. This Launcher is designed to help fill those gaps with the least amount effort possible. (we are lazy, lol)

PLEASE NOTE: It is recommended to set the compatiblity mode for the I76.exe and the nitro.exe to Windows 98 Compaitblity Mode for best results.

You have three rendering modes available:

Software mode
DirectX Mode
Glide Mode

I'76 Launcher v2.0 (with dgVoodoo support)
http://www.filefront.com/16096699/I76_Launcher_v20_Setup.exe/

This package includes dgVoodoo 1.50 beta 2 Advanced Glide Emulation Support.

The purpose of the Launcher is to help players get I'76 and Nitro running with the best performance and best graphics.

- - - HOW IT WORKS: - - -

When you start the I'76 Arsenal Launcher, first, it automatically closes the Windows Explorer shell. Why? To prevent graphic problems in the game menu and cutscences such as the "Rainbow Graphics" bug. But not to worry friends, when you exit the launcher, it automatically restarts Window Explorer Shell for you. :)

Also when the Launcher is started, it automatically starts CPUGrabber. CPUGrabber is a CPU Throttling program. Basically, modern CPUs are just to powerful for the old 1'76 engine and this in turn causing issue such as wobbly wheels, bouncing suspensions and issues with the flamerthrower and mortor weapons. The actual setting for CPUgrabber will vary from machine to machine, so you will have to play with it get the right setting for your hardware. The launcher will automatically set CPUGrabbers CPU affinity to a single processor core.

When starting the game via the launcher, it will automatically have it's CPU affinity to a single processor core (the same core as CPUgrabber).

Selecting the Advance Glide Settings button in the Launcher will open the dgVoodoo Control Panel to allow you to tweak the game's glide rendering for the best visuals. Please note these setting only work if you use the glide rendering option. Both Interstate 76 and the Nitro Pack each come with there own dgVoodoo options so they can be tweaked individually.

Enjoy!

PLEASE NOTE: For whatever reason some AntiVirus programs (notability AVG) may claim that the installers contains a virus. I assure you that this is a FALSE POSITIVE. Think about it, would I REALLY want to try to spread a virus though a website that has access to my name, address and phone number via my credit card purchases? I would have to be the all time KING of IDIOTS and while I am human (last time I checked) I am certainly not THAT stupid, lol ;)

Thanks! It finally works!
In my pc don't work , can help me?
This is wonderful. I have that AVG false positive issue, but the game is playable at last! Thank you so much for putting all the fixes into one handy place for everybody.
Since gamefront is acting goofy (had to re-upload v2.0 since they deleted it) I have added some download mirrors

hip63 :P
You seem like the one who can help. I just bought this game and downloaded the 2.0 launcher. I want to run this on my HP laptop but when I read the instructions for the launcher it talks about coping files and such. For a laymen how and what do I need to do to get this working. It appeared to work but when I started melee it kicked me out. Thanks for any help or advice you can give. Oh and how do I get it off the 640 setting it doesnt let me in game. Sorry I know this isnt my fortay.

AVG kept telling me glide2.dll (?) was a trojan and removed it, though the game did load and play prior to this. I downloaded a replacement .dll but it wasn't the right version so it kept CTD - I'll try again another time. Shame we're having these issues, but the launcher in the OP is certainly a good sign.

No problems with Total Annihilation, though.
After playing I'76 using launcher in Windows 7, launcher window un-responsive; fortunately always keep Task Manager available. Had to restart explorer.exe manually.
Yeah the dll is a virus, but there's no way to shut off or turn off AVG
Hello and thanks GOG for this wonderful fix of this great legendary game. The game is working great except one bug, when i click on the ESC button, I cannot see the abort mission and the reconfigure and the option Fonts. I can switch between them and click but by guessing. If its a bug could you please try fixing it, or if its my pc can you help me out ??

my pc specs:

OS windows 7 home premium 32 bit
intel core 2 quad q9550
nvidia GTX 285 1248 MB
8 MB Ram DDR 3

I get this problem aswell using the CD version on XP. Only way I have found to get around it is to press the windows key to minimise the game window, and then click on it again to maximise it. The menus are then visible again! But you have to do this each time it happens lol!

So does this launcher have an actual virus in it or was that just a typo in your post? The reason I ask is if the launcher is clear of viruses, I might pick up this game the next time it goes on sale.

I don't know, all I know is that it doesn't work because of the anti virus
