So I was experimenting with giving commands to my followers and hit "G" which, according to the in-game control menu, stands for "stay here". Now I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my followers to stay close to me again. I tried hitting "G" again, nothing. I also tried the other commands, "A" for charge, "F" for hold your weapons, "Z" for attack target and "X" for help me.

They just stay in the same spot as before. I also tried talking to them and asking them to come with me again, but this did not fix the issue.

Is there a command for "follow me/stay close" that I am missing?

Edit: I thought that maybe exiting the screen would fix the issue, but then I simply receive the message "you must gather your party before venturing forth" (BG 1 & 2 flashbacks xD).

Edit2: Well, I fixed the issue myself by reloading the game from an earlier save point. I guess I will be careful with the "G" command from now on.

I think it's a bug, because for me after "stay here" using the command "charge" makes my companions follow me again.
There is no bug, pressing the "A" key actually means "follow me" - the devs have explained it wrong.

If, after giving the command "G" to "stay here" you then give the command "A" to "follow me" then your followers are OBVIOUSLY! free to attack any nearby opponents.
I actually wanted to mark both of your answers as "solved" since, in my case, I do believe it was a minor bug which reloading solved (I experimented with the other follower commands, including "A" before reloading).

But the information that Wulfenstein gave me is very useful for the future and appears to be working flawlessly now, so I don't know what went wrong. *shrugs*

+1 to both of you and thanks for the replies!
