level-studio: Under what number do you have a left trigger in the layout and under what number in the driver?
in the layout it is 6 in the driver it is 7, but the driver starts @1 so you subtract 1 when setting them in the config... I just found a bug in the cfg and corrected it in the above post, I had game start as button 6 and it should have been 8 ...caused the menu to pop up

found one more error (already corrected in the post) in the first fountain tip it says press \a should have been press \y
Must have changed the layout a little at some point cause according to the tips comparison on xbox it is a (to fill) then y(To drink), on PC it is y(to fill) then x (to drink) ....no bind to change that



and as an aside, set the FPS limit to 120 and it runs REALLY smooth

I found a solution - having touched all the buttons on the keyboard (one and the same button of the xbox has several different on the keyboard)

The display of the buttons depends on the binds file - it must match the xbox original pad, if the layout is different, then the buttons will also be displayed but not the ones you need.

2. Open strings.str with a text editor

PS2.rar

nothing new, all the same as in the PC and in the xbox versions, with inconsistent differences.
I watched a video of how it looks like this menu on YouTube for xbox and ps2 versions and apparently the buttons icons in the game save menu and generally in the game menu - it's just a texture, i.e. buttons and possibly inscriptions next to them is part of the background image, lying somewhere in the game archives something like

\GameData\indy\interfc\

action.mtx, indy.mbf, xbox.mtx (mulitex containers)

It is easier to replace in a strings.str file

coolbeans...hadn't ran across that particular program,,,I've contacted the developer of cxbxreloaded..hoping for insights to extracting the pak files in buffy the vampire slayer (slayer engine that emperors tomb uses) thinking it should be simple to substitute the files and get it running on PC...cxbx obviously reads them (Even extracts info from them since the game runs just has graphic issues)
cxbx author/coder was no help... seems no one knows how they are encrypted (or if they even are, cause you can read them in a hex editor and see plaintext

Buttons Layout Preview

All buttons work (D-Pad now works in the game menu and in the game itself).
Tips now display the Xbox buttons.

1. Unpack content of archive to Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb root directory and overwrite.
2. Run the game.
