Out of interest where does the game store it's saves?

I thought it was in Progra x86/gog.com/IW2/saves but it doesn't seem to pick up on these unless I set compatibility mode and seeminly trigger a debug mode.
That's the right location. It might be worth installing the game to a folder outside the Progam Files folder, because Vista/Windows 7 restricts file operations in that folder, unless you're running the game with adminstrator rights.

That's why modern games save to the application data or My Documents folder - it prevents programs requiring administration rights to save data.

Fair enough I'll reinstall and see what happens.
The weird thing is, it is saving... somewhere. When I fire it up via the launcher.exe link all my save games appear, but it can't see the ones I put in saves directory and I can't find any .sav files. They vanish again when I use the compatibility settings.

Windows, it's weird. :)
For those that encounter the same problem. They're in:

C:\ Users \ (username)\ AppData\ Local\ VirtualStore\ Program Files (x86)\ GOG.com\ IWAR2\ saves

Must be something to do with Windows 7 and limited access or something. Probably explains why I couldn't find them easily. After all who'd think to look in the hidden directiory? :S
Weird! Obviously some compatibility feature. I'd just install the game outside the program files folder. I install all my games to a D: partition to make it easy to mod and patch them, and to help manage save data for older games.
