When I launch Homeworld Remastered or Homeworld 2 Remastered a black screen is displayed then nothing. I have to ALT-TAB to get back to my desktop and then close the game. This does not happen when I run the classic versions of either game. Any suggestions to get it to run would be appreciated. Note I use an AMD Radeon RX480 with 8 GB of memory.

Update you graphics card drivers and see if it fixes the problem.

Hello Vythonaut,

My graphics card drivers are current. I also have a copy of Homeworld Remastered or Homeworld 2 Remastered in my Steam Libaray and it runs without the black screen issue of the GOG version.

Hmm, maybe it's something GOG version specific? Personally, I didn't have any problems with it (Win7 64bit). If you happen to have Win8 or 10, you can try setting the compatibility options to Win7 and also set it to run it as administrator. If nothing happens by doing so, i guess you should contact GOG support.
Did you find any solution? I have the same problem.
I have the same issue on Win 10 64-bit. New build, nvidia drivers are up to date. It shows the Gearbox Software intro then goes to a black screen.

EDIT: I turned off the "Game Bar" in the Windows 10 Game Mode settings and that fixed the issue ONCE. I'm no longer seeing those little pop-up Game Mode notifications from Windows when I launch a game. If you're looking for the settings click your Windows button and start typing "game mode." However, on subsequent launches I'm still getting the black screen, but I can usually get the game up by hitting space bar on the black screen.

I don't know whether what I'm about to say will be of any use, but if you're using NVIDIA, make sure to set all the Homeworld executable files' "Preferred graphical processor" to "High performance NVIDIA processor" via the NVIDIA Control Panel. And if you have a low-end PC or laptop that forces you to lower the game's settings in order to get a decent FPS, then make sure that you don't go below "3 - LOW" for the Texture Quality, as it will most likely turn the game's screen black whenever you start playing.
None of these options worked for me. If anyone has any insight, it'd be appreciated.

Just bougt and have the same problem.

Fixed by not useing GoG launcer and just running the file from the directory... The exe files are hidden down in the Bin/Release directories.
After keeping the black screen there for 5 mins just hitting esc seems to have worked for me
I had the steam version and the gog one (downloaded from another source) and both have the same issues. I tried all the solutions found but couldn't get it to work. Finally I asked for a refund on steam and never purchased it on gog.
The black screen issue is only present on 2 remastered.
