Apparently the game is doing well and more content is on the way. I also remember from their kickstarter that Hornet will be turned into a playable character, so there's that too.

How are people enjoying this, by the way? I haven't finished it (just got my wall-jump), but it's been fantastic thus far. Way bigger and higher quality than I was expecting to get at this price. Platforming also well within frustration parameters and no technical problems so far. My only 'annoyance' is that it's a bit softer looking than some of the early kickstarter art suggested, which had more bug horror, but that's a feeling of 'what could have been'.
I'm loving it. I have about 35 hours logged now, and I'm still not done. It is astounding just how much stuff is in this game. I've also heard that they plan to add even more. Good Lord... I'm sorely tempted to buy a second copy of this on Steam. Not because I have a problem with this version, but becasue this game is worth much more than just $15. If I could go back in time and back this on kickstarter, I would. In fact, if you know of a way to donate to Cherry directly, let me know, 'cause I will do it.

And if you just got the wall jump, you have a LONG way to go.

I don't know about any of the kickstarter art, so I can't compare directly. I'll check it out though. But as far as "bug horror" goes, without spoiling anything, the botton and bottom left areas of the world map are a nightmare. I hope it meets your expectations :) I have zero desire to go there again.

If you don't mind the suggestion: Rather than giving money to Steam, why not buy some extra copies on GOG? You could give them to friends who might like the game or host a giveaway on the forum.

You can see the art here. Early concept art went more for a giger-esque aesthetic and the game was called "Hungry Bug" at that stage, but changed over time into what Hollow Knight is now. I actually stumbled across the lower area you mentioned by accident after I got my wall-jump. There's a secret passage that lets you access it from above and I kept overlooking the exit, so I explored the whole area in my attempt to leave. Tensest part of the game so far! I'm now exploring the rest of the city after getting my ground stomp, before I go off to see how I can reach the dreamers.

I also think that the game is too cheap. This is a full-blooded Metroidvania with added Dark Souls flavour, at a price that suggests a nice but short indie game. If you do buy another copy then I'd say follow Marioface5's suggestion and do a giveaway on GOG - generate some 'buzz' (get it? eh? eh?). The game could do with some user-generated hype. ;)

Also, looking at some of the kickstarter updates, while carefully dodging spoilers, told me that we can at the least expect Hornet as a playable character, several more bosses, a few more dungeons and a new village. Looking at how well they're living up to their stretchgoals made me bit bummed out that they didn't reach their higher stretch-goals for even more content. :/ The way they're implementing backer content in general is also really good and not disruptive at all - loved the glade.

one of the best ways to support them is to gift it to a friend. if he loves it a lot he might do the same... basicly starting a chain.
I took you guys advice and bought a second copy for a friend. He seemed pretty stoked about it. Here's to hoping he likes it as much as I did. Heck, still do, seeing as how I just started a new game.

It's an awesome game. Finished my first run with 98% I think.. only missed one notch but got the real ending :)
then I tried the Steel soul mode and screwed up like 3 saves, but I´m rolling aprox. 9 hrs on my 4th try and I don't think I'll ever die now that I got upgrades-- Love to find changes on some NPC´s and also looking forward to the boss challenges!
Just read about free content being unlocked soon, but only on Steam? :(

You mean this, right? I don't see it saying anywhere that it's only coming to Steam.

Also, for those still holding out, Hollow Knight is part of the summer sale.

No, Steam only gets to test beta patches but that is.
Hidden Dream content pack hits every platform at the same time

Sorry for derailing this for a moment but ...
Since you seem to be one of the devs/publishers could you please answer me this simple question?

Hidden Dreams update is being released on the third of August.

Hidden Dreams Release Date

This is the immediate big one! Hidden Dreams will now go out to all players on August 3rd. In classic Team Cherry style, this is a little later than we said, but we felt the update needed a little more testing and fine tuning before we send it out. Plus, we may have managed to squeeze a few little unannounced surprises in there!

Thanks for being patient with us, we really hope you all enjoy descending back into the kingdom of Hallownest and hunting down the new secrets!
What are the chances we'll actually see the Hidden Dreams update today or tomorrow? Tough to explain to my kids why they don't get their updates at the same time as their friends.
GoG update will be up today along with Steam one
