Great stuff right there. Nice work with the guide and scripts, works fine for me. I am learning with linux, but far so good. I made my HOMM3 work somehow.
However, I do not know what to do now. When I start the game, it wants to put an original CD Shadow of Death in order to play single player (which I want to). Otherwise I can only play multi player mode.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks for the report, there is indeed an issue with the script when you use the installer "setup_homm3_complete_2.0.0.16.exe". I’m going to fix it later today.

If you have access to the latest installer "setup_homm_3_complete_4.0_(10665).exe" you shouldn’t have this issue, the game won’t ask for a CD.

Did you use the new installer, or the old installer with the updated script?
I do not have the old installer (+ patch) anymore, so I couldn’t test it before releasing the updated script, I can only hope it works as expected ;)

I used the new installer, and can confirm that everything works as expected.

The first time you run the game, you can not skip the intro movie.
I’ll think of a way to allow to skip it even on first launch, and include it into the script.

Hello! First of all I would like to thank you for the scripts and tutorial. If I can run HoMM 3 on this netbook I will thank you for the rest of my life hehehe...
Well, the installation of the scripts seems to have gone well. However, when opening the game, the wine screen appears but soon closes, similar to the problem reported by the other user with HoMM2 and DosBox. However, the map and campaign editors are working ok.
Can you help me? I'm using MXLinux

Please try running the game from a console, using the command "heroes-of-might-and-magic-3", and post the output here.

I don’t know this distribution, does it use the .deb package format?

Oooooh just solved the problem, I needed the i386 drivers

apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri:i386
