Thanks I just found out why my links weren't clickable and fixed them. Also updated the first post info to reflect latest version.

A Hotfix RC5 to RC5a was uploaded, because unfortunately a critical bug was left in the code:

Does this mod address animations in hero attacks and that? I'm looking to either speed these up *a lot* or have them removed completely.
Loooong time H2 - 5 player here. Despite owning these on original CD's, I bought the series again in the sale for my new pc. With H5 I also downloaded and installed the 5.5 mod (RC9b). It seems to run ok so far, but naturally has a lot of differences. My concern is that it has hijacked ToE. I was expecting to be able to choose either the original ToE or 5.5; Instead, whether I click on the GoG ToE icon, or the 5.5 64bit Icon I get the same splash screen and game (5.5). Same if I try to launch the game direct from the ToE.exe in the Bin folder.

Perhaps I was spoiled by H3 and WoG which gave me a choice between standard H3 or H3WoG.

It's not a serious deal, just have to learn some new strategies.

However, I wondering if this is correct, and if there is a way to have both?

Thinks....perhaps if I reinstall ToE to a different location? Currently ALL my GoG games go to default C:\GoG Games folder. Perhaps If I created a "GoG ToE" folder in Gog games and reinstalled ToE there? Would I have a problem with saves etc?

Hi, I'm not the developer of MMH5.5 (magnomagus is), but I'm a contributor and am quite familiar with it.
So, yes, because the MMH5.5 installer puts its data files at the same path as the original game, you will see its data even when you start the game with the original ToTE exe.

The remedy to this is to copy the whole game directory somewhere else, say a folder with MMH5.5, then actually uninstall MMH5.5 from "programs". MMH5.5 will work just fine from the new location. This way, you can start ToTE from the regular path, and MMH5.5 from the new one. When you're installing a new version of MMH5.5, you will have to show it the new path though...

I believe saved games will go to the same personal folder, which means they will overwrite each other, so pay attention to that...

Thanks for the info. I will try that, or something like it soon. The main thing is I now know that I haven't missed anything in the installation / setup, and that the base game is not also available as standard. The 5.5 mod is designed to overwrite ToTE, not sit by it's side.
MMH5.5 does not overwrite any of the original game files. How Heroes 5 works is that the game exe checks for the data folder for the data files it needs and if there are multiple copies, it uses the one with the most recent "modified" date.

What MMH5.5 does is install copies of the data files it needs with newer modified date (naturally). It also comes with its own exe file, so the original is untouched. That is why uninstalling it is as simple as deleting all files that start with "MMH55" in three folders: "bin", "data" and "UserMODs"... That is also why the method I described above will enable you to have both the MMH5.5 and the original game work as they should on the same system.

Enjoy! ;)

EDIT: By the way, the newest version, RC10 Beta 4 is just released. Check the thread magnomagus linked above...

I have never played any of them but I'm in love with these older games. When I install the expansion can it be in its own directory or does it need to merge with M&M 5?
Is there any special instructions for installing the Expansion. I'm new to M&M But i would like to play. Or should I play vanilla first?
Thanks
