Hi guys,

We have cleaned up, re-tagged, and generally spruced up the soundtracks for Heroes 2 through 5 and Heroes Chronicles.

Let us know if you like them or if there's anything we can do to make them even better :D

Awesome.
Does that include Heroes Chronicles or is that the same as before?

Yes it does. I'll edit the OP.
Thank you!

Nice, though I'd wish GOG would start attaching lossless OSTs where possible.

BTW, Heroes 2 OST has different date on #1. It might cause some problems for people who base their libraries on tags ;)

I have just noticed an issue with OST for Heroes V. Namely first track plays normally for the first 45 seconds then 15 seconds silence then restarts form the beginning and due to that is cut in the middle at 3:20 mark.

As for suggestions for improvements:
1. Mp3 format might be most popular but have you ever considered some better alternatives (I know you have for the music used ingame)? Ogg vorbis offers better quality at the same size or (even more important) less size at same quality. Plus it is patent free so more compliant with general gog approach to freedom.
2. Even staying with mp3, 320CBR is kinda wasteful. VBR offers the same (and sometimes even better) quality at smaller size. When we are at that almost everyone - besides flac freaks of course - should agree that 99% of population can tell absolutely no difference above 160bitrate.
3. There are some minor inconsistencies with tagging of tracks between soundtracks for games from the HoMM series.
I don't know if it is relevant to this update, but the main theme from the Heroes 5 seems to be corrupted. After playing till about 40 seconds, it starts playing all over again, and because of that, it ends about 40 seconds short. I have tried re-downloading, and used two different players. I don't seem to get this problem with any other track, so I think it may be corrupted.
The soundtracks are great, thank you GOG.
But could you please add a non-broken version of Heroes 5 Menu theme into the package? It's not that big an issue since i found the track in "...heroes of might and magic 5\music\MainMenu" folder (in .ogg format), but still would be nice to have it fixed in the actual OST archive.

thanks for the update, seached this for a while
Nice!
Nice! So, what exactly changed?
I have a question this soundtrack update. Does this mean you put into Heroes of Might and Magic II Gold the soundtracks with Opera singers singing? Because If you've got that in Heroes Ii Gold I'll buy it from you guys.

HoMM2 can be played with either Succession Wars or Price of Loyalty tracks, both are included in game folder.

There's a slight glitch in the Succession Wars music for the warlock castle (which is a shame, because that's my favourite of the town musics).

The file is: "/HoMM 2 Gold/MUSIC/sw/homm2_05.ogg"
The glitch is at 0:30. It's just a slight corruption sound which is obviously not meant to be there. So if possible, please re-rip that track to fix the glitch.

(It would probably be a good if someone else could confirm that the glitch exists and isn't just some problem on my computer.)
