Just purchased this and getting some weird stuttering/poor performance. Probably shouldn't as my system likely exceeds the recommended specs.

Same thing as well, heaven forbid if you put it in windowed mode, no clue why.
Well just got a crash too...really can't play this at this point.

Have you tried setting game affinity to first CPU only? This is often a reason for low performance or random crashes on older games.
Will try this when I get home as well...but HOMMIII didn't require this. Either way if it works it works doesn't really matter to me.
Sorry for the double post...but how would go about setting the CPU affinity for this game?

*edit*

Nevermind...I found you can do it through the task manager...will I have to do this everytime I start the game?

*edit 2*

Nevermind...it doesn't fix the stuttering anyways.

Have you tried running it as Administrator?

With XP / 98 Compatibility?
Performance is poor on Windows Vista and Windows 7. Setting game affinity or change compatibility dosen't work. We are waiting for a patch. It should be done before release this game on gog.
Yeah I've tried everything suggested thus far...no change. I think it's like robsx says and just an issue with the game.

I don't have much experience with gog.com support or patching process (if there is even one)...despite owning half a dozen games from here...are we to expect this will be resolved or are games from gog.com basically as-is?

Well you could always try running it inside a virtual machine: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

Waste of time. I tried improve performance many times in many ways. I tried it with my box copy of HoMMIV. I have hope, that they will release patched version of HoMM IV soon. Gog.com patched some games, for example KNIGHTS AND MERCHANTS: THE PEASANTS REBELLION. No patch, no buy digital copy.

Anymore info on this one? I think many of us are running Win7 64bits. I wouldnt feel good buying a game that doesnt work properly.
I made two questions to support regarding this and haven't heard anything back. Sucks...
