Hey

I purchased HOMM 3 from gog.com and after installing it I pressed the launch button and this window comes up and I can only press the "ok" button and then nothing happens:

DirectDraw error (16389):

'DDERR_GENERIC'

File: 'C:\Dev\heroes 3 Exp 2\Game\WINGRAPH.CPP'
Line: 154

I have a windows 7 enterprise 64 bit, please help me, I want to play HOMM 3 so bad...

Do you have latest DirectX 9.0c installed? You can grab it from here:

Hey,

thanks for the suggestion, but have tried that...

I have:

- Updatet my windows 7
- Updatet drivers for my graphic card
- Downloaded and installed the June 2010 DirectX runtime package
- checked that the installer passed the file integrity check
- Im using an account with Administrator privileges
- I've turned off the UAC settings
- Turned off any non-crucial third-party programs
- deleting it and reinstalled it many times

But nothing helps, so if anyone know what to do, please reply

The previous post is very old, but I had the same problem yesterday and a DirectX update didn't solve the problem. So for everyone, who can't start the game as well, here is what helped me to solve it:
I have multiple monitors in use (pc and tv); disabling the tv monitor in windowns solved it for me. The game starts now without the weird error message.

But i only have a Tv to use as a monitor...
:( What should i do?
