Hi all,

When we released Hard West on Windows 64-bit first, we released an earlier version (one version earlier than the final game, to be exact) of the game both via GOG Galaxy and our offline installers. What this means is that some of you may have experienced some issues with the game that were already fixed in the proper version.

We've since updated the game both via GOG Galaxy and the offline installers. What this means is that if you've already started a game and have completed a couple campaigns then updatting the game will set you one campaign back. For example, you finished one of Warren's campaigns and you've started playing the Undertaker campaign then updating the game will set you back to the beginning of the beginning of the Undertaker campaign, i.e. you'll need to start the Undertaker campaign over again.

As for our offline users, please make sure you have the following installer version in order to make sure you have the latest version of the game:

setup_hard_west_2.1.0.4.exe
setup_hard_west_2.1.0.4-1.bin
setup_hard_west_2.1.0.4-2.bin

We deeply apologize for this inconvenience.

Judas, is there any schedule on the 32-bit release?

Already in the build :) Offline and via Galaxy :)

Guys you really need to advertise this somehow. I don't really memorize file serial numbers and Galaxy only includes this once you do a full verify and reinstall. I have been trying to get this to start for 3 days :D

There are already virus downloaders out there claiming to be a "32-bit fan patch" :P

You didn't get an update via Galaxy for the game on its own?
My games just started to update right now 10GB worth. it didnt update earlier however, so must have needed to go through the system. Auto started through Galaxy.

Nope. Did a manual update abut 3 hours back. Also just did that due to your message here. If it HAD updated automatically I would still have assumed that it was unplayable for me.

Where can I get Windows 74 bit? It sounds powerful.
To be perfectly clear, the only version affected by that mistake was the pc64 build. The bad news is, it wasn't a previous, 'almost final' version but rather a build tailored for very specific technical tests. Thus there may have been quite a few issues not present in the (correct) launch build.

Now, we're finishing testing of a 1.1 patch (most likely out tomorrow) and also continuing work on a more substantial 1.2 patch due later this week. We'll keep you posted as to its availability.

So after a 10gb download it now says "151118_1413_release_pc_64" in the bottom right of the title screen, does that seem correct?

Yes, you're all good. That's the gold master version that should have been released here day 1.
Very annoying of course, but at least it got fixed.
Very annoying.
I haven't experienced any issues so far, I am about 5 hours in. Do I risk encountering any game breaking bugs if I continue without updating? I wouldn't mind as much but I am doing a Let's Play and...yeah.

Sadly there is a much higher risk to run into a game breaking bug in the version you've been playing so far. But as Judas' announcement said: the only incompatible saves are the ones within a scenario, your global progress (unlocked sccenarios, trinkets and some other stuff) will continue to work after the update.

Now, I think a decent idea would be to finish the scenario you're currently in, hoping not to run into any blocks, and then do the update. This way you should be able to update the game almost seamlessly.

Ok, so, just to clarify.
1. I am 61% in Method in Madness. If I upgrade it means I am down to zero in that?
2. Do you recommend finishing it and then patching?
3. How exactly should I proceed with the patch. Just download the new files and install over the previous installation without uninstalling the previous, or something else?

Sadly Method in Madness seems to be broken in the original GOG release and you may not be able to finish the scenario without updating the game first. Also as far as I'm aware the progress counter will probably remain at 61% but you will not be able to continue the game from that checkpoint and have to manually restart the scenario, effectively resetting the progress counter to 0%, yes.

As for the patch, that depends on how the GOG installers or Galaxy handle things but the game itself should work fine after simply replacing it with the new version. The progress that's compatible with the new version should remain intact.
