Have you tried this?

does anyone know how to get that fix above to work?

It says just extract it to the root directory. THEN WHAT?
That fix is for the Steam version. It doesn't seem to work for GOG. In theory, all you would have to do is stick it in the root directory, then configure the .INI in the scripts folder for your resolution. But all I'm getting is a crash on startup, so I don't think it's compatible.

I think he might be the author of the widescreen fix. He says to just put the replacement D3D9 DLL files in the game folder along with the config file that can be tweaked for the settings, so it sounds like it just acts as a D3D hook. If that's the case, you do all the config tweaking first then just launch the game and it should handle the rest for you.

I don't have the game here on GOG to try it, though. I am tempted to get it, but I did finish it on the original Xbox.

Thanks, it shows me how to install it, but like jay wrote and like I just found out, it's not for this version. Meh, no big deal. :D

Oh well, odd that it says it works on the Steam version but then doesn't work on the GOG version, as you'd expect them both to be the latest version executable considering the game is from 2005.

I just read the Gun entry on the WSGF (Widescreen Gaming Forum) site. There are registry entries that can be edited for the screen resolution, so that can be done. However, the result is a stretching of the screen, not showing additional display, so for me that is worse than just playing it pillarboxed for the original 4:3 screen ratio.
Just applied those steps:

1 - set the correct resolution by editing the registry key

2 - applied widescreen fix made by ThirteenAG (the game won't start at this point)

3 - replaced game .exe with "GUN v1.0 [ENGLISH] No-CD/Fixed EXE DEViANCE"

The game now works with correct resolution and aspect ratio!

Does this result in an inconsistency in mouse sensitivity between the X and Y axis? I've noticed a number of widescreen hacks where that happens, and it makes the game unplayable.

Looks like ThirteenAG updated the widescreen fix to be compatible with the GOG version.

http://thirteenag.github.io/wfp#gun

Copy over the .DLL and SCRIPTS folder to the main GUN directory, edit the Gun.WidescreenFix.cfg (Located in the SCRIPTS folder) to your preference, and run the game.

Working perfectly for me so far.

I can confirm this because it was me who asked them to look into the GOG issue and today he told me that it is fixed which in fact is the case :)

tinyE: DITTO :D
The fact that so many people have asked him at the same time might explain why he was so fast with fixing it :)
