Hello,

It's great to play again Grim Farango after all these years !
This new version can be enjoyed with a gamepad, but sadly it does not work with my PC gamepad (Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power). It seems that the game requires a PS4 gamepad (as it's showed on the pics on the controller option).
So, I'm wondering if I could enjoy the game with a standard PC gamepad and not have to buy a PS4 gamepad to play with this new function ? Anyone knows how to do this ?

Thank you guys !

Shtaff

Sadly, your gamepad isn't a standard PC gamepad (these days that is). Microsoft managed to push the 360 controller as the 'standard' and now most developers don't bother supporting what used to be the standard for PC controllers (it was called DirectInput, the new Xbox 360 one is called Xinput and is a lot more limited).
As your controller is Directinput, no one supports it these days because Microsoft managed to convince everyone not to bother. I sympathise as I run into these kinds of problems too with my preferred controller.

As an interesting side note, the original version of Grim Fandango had controller support and as DirectInput was the standard by that point your controller would work with the original game. To get it working with the new version, try something like Joy2key to map the keyboard controls to your gamepad. Alternatively, you could experiment with x360ce (google it).

Also, I think the PS4 buttons are simply because the remaster was developed in parallel for the PS4. It's unlikely a PS4 controller is required but they might be supported.

It's not an Xinput issue, because I've just checked with a Cordless Rumblepad 2 (which uses Direct Input) and it works fine..

If the Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power works under Game Controllers in Control Panel, it might be some software profiler that's remapping the keys/axis to something else.

Well I'm rather glad to be wrong!
Thank you for the answers.
I know my gamepad controller is not a recent one, but I really like to use it because it's one of the few ones with so many buttons working (13 !).
It works perfectly with DIRT 2, a not so old game. And it works with Freespace 2.

It's weird that you cannot configure the buttons settings for the gamepad (I can for DIRT 2 or Freespace 2). Maybe if this option exists, that might work with any controller detected in Windows 7.

How can we ask about this issue to Double Fine Production ? Is there an e-mail adress ?
