Is the GOG version of Gothic 2 Gold allow installing JUST Gothic 2, or is it set-up to firce both Gothic 2 and Night of the Raven initially? Thanks. I like playing Gothic 2 vanilla, as well as firing up NotR plays for an extra challenge.
NotR is selected by default in the installer, but you can uncheck it by clicking Options. The same applies to any other GOG titles that have expansions included.

I think its dated anyway and it may no longer be possible in the downloader.

Correct, it's no longer possible in the 2.0 installer for some reason.

Yes, I noticed that too now.
That's really bad, because the extension is the hard difficulty setting of the game and not meant to be forced afaik.

Please make it optional again!

I think we have better chances if we contact Customer Support directly,
And yes, I do love playing G2 "vanilla" from time to time just for fun.

Done.
I would like to have the option of course, since there are probably a few people out there, who would like to play Gothic without the expansion, but I really do not understand why.
Let us be honest, the expansion enriches the game a lot. Yes, it is more difficult, but what is wrong with a good challenge?

It is impossible to play through it as a real magician anymore (without high sword skills) and the problem with that is, that leveling up your skills has become so expensive in skill-points, that this is nearly impossible.
I had to stop playing as a magician, because I was limited to a low circle of spells (I think it was the third?) when having to work myself through the new area and I was not able to get enough skill points to get good enough in melee combat.
It was no problem as a knight or mercenary.

No reply yet. How long does it usually take?

Depends, really.

To some posts I never got any replies, to others I got in a couple of hours.
Thus I don't know the criteria for those, but probably ranges from Critical Problem -> Optional improvements.

Unfortunately that functionality was removed from our newest installer. Unfortunately there are currently no are plans to restore that functionality for compatibility reasons, but we can provide you with the older installer that will allow you to get the base game only.

You can use the link below to log in and access our FTP server where we'll store the installer for no less than a week:

Klumpen0815: Get the old installer as long as you can from the FTP.

Ah, Natalia.

She manages answering to all of us so easily, heh...

Anyway, back on topic: funny thing is I actually have the old installer, which has the option to install them separately.
I keep a sort of library of my GOG games on my machine. :)

Thank you nonetheless.

All the best to you, Klumpen!
You know, posting this link here allows anyone to download this version of Gothic II, without buying the game...
