Hi:

I tried this after seeing on a forum. Just run the game without compatibility mode and with software rendering. It may be slow on the esc menu, but the game graphics are ok and the sound runs smoothly. I also check the box that disable the hardware zoom.
Hope this fix works for everyone. Enjoy the game ;)

Can you send me an invite? I have this same damn problem. I have been unable to play this game since purchasing it.

Nvm. I thought this was a patch.
If I run in software mode even with the compatibility unchecked, I still experience the sound glitch. I read the post about creating a batch file to kill explorer; this seems a bit extreme and a bit of a pain in the azz. I would really like to see GOG fix this issue.

Yeah, that would be great. This guys usually fix the issues... Are you sure you keep ALL the boxes clear in the compatibility tab? You must uncheck ALL, not just the one to select the old windows version...
Unable to compute z lookup table. Let me try again.
I get that and when I run in software mode it messes up the sound. Same issues I have had since I installed it.

Thanks. I may just have to piece together another rig when I get time.
why not upload it too a normal fileshare site rather than an invite only torrent one?
He didn't upload anything. He is simply saying where he found the solution, which is on that site. The download doesn't matter.

you will have to forgive me for not realising it wasnt some sort of file or similar given its origins..
Thanks sooo much!!

I just bought Gorky 17 and was unable to play due to the bad sound in software and blacked out characters and monsters in the other graphics options. I did exactly what you suggested, I unclicked compatibility and two other ticked options in the properties of the .exe and in software rendering the sound was normal. I haven't tried to see if the graphics are normal using the gpu/display rendering options.

I am running Gorky in win7 64 with i7 and gtx570.
