Simply as that. Flying around is just so much fun. And I remember playing Giants again and again just in order to find another way to move from A to B. :)

I wonder if there are more games that deal with jet packs?

Good"ol Duke Nukem 3D :)
I don"t know if the new one (DNF) got it.

Then there is Dark Void. I haven't played through it, and you don"t have a jet pack all the time. Well that's what came to mind now.
True, Duke Nukem 3D has it. The 2011er release doesn't really have it anymore, you just get to see it in a cutscene.

Dark Void is correct. I forgot it, although I played the game some month ago. However, Dark Void isn't a good game, so maybe that is why I didn't remember... :p
I absolutely agree and wish there were more of them.

The only other one I remember is Tribes: Vengeance.
I remember another one: Outwars

Maybe no one know this game anymore, but it came from Microsoft and was released in 1998.

I thought the jet-pack part of Dark Void was pretty cool, basically I like the rest of it also, the parts Ive played that is. I dont know why I stopped playing it though. I will probably continue on it later.
I didnt know about those other jetpack games.

But what Im really disappointed about is that there are no jetpacks to be bought IRL :P (and no flying cars either..its 2011 ffs!)

Ah, I just remembered another one, Rocket Ranger on the Amiga (lol): http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=F6vIHcxGyIA#t=247s

Then there is "Jetmen Revival", a 2D gravity-force-like game (for windows, at least I had it on XP, dont know about Vista/7). There is a pilot with a jetpack after crashing the ship, if that counts :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXTioPEQ3-o

You mean Starsiege: Tribes, right? ;)

I think it did jetpacks best, imho.

Rhineland: I remember another one: Outwars

This. I think it's loosely based on the Starship Troopers book, but don't quote me on this one.
Yeah, 'Outwars' definetly should come here to GOG some day. I'd buy it instantly just because of the jetpack part. :)
sea reaper has turbo!! its as fun as jetpack :)
No, its not! :p
Heh, found another one apparently: "Section 8" by South Peak. I just picked it up for about $6 at a store. As of yet I haven't checked it out, except some reviews and unfortunately they are pretty bad. But it has jetpacks, but they are only good for small-ish jumps as they have to recharge. Or so I read. I just hope it has LAN play options.
A couple of others:

Quake Wars Enemy Territory, the Strogg have jetpacks (but they must be recharged(?) pretty quickly too).

And another one to look out for. I don't know exactly when it will be out, probably not for a few months or more. But it looks very promising (which seems like a big understatement, especially for an indie game):

Hawken

Not a jet-pack, but a mech (a "mech-pack"? :P) that you pilot and that can fly around with. Or walk/run.
Hawken on youtube
Jetpacks - yes!!
I played Giants: CK through. I think that Delphi's Turbo is a cool stuff. But really, if you want some jetpack action, then you have to try Dark Void. I don't have an idea why it had such a bad reviews and received low notes. yes, the game isn't that awesome, but jetpack-gameplay (which is more like flying later in the game) and intriguing background make it worth playing in my opinion.

Starsiege Tribes has never been beaten in so many ways, jetpacks and freedom of movement in particular though. Vengeance had some redeeming qualities but fell way short in a great many ways. There is a new (free to play) Tribes coming out, fingers crossed!
