Hi!
I'm experiencing delayed sound in cutscenes, delays seem random, sometimes it's almost unnoticeable, sometimes sound lags behind for about a second.
Does anyone else has this problem?
I have an Audigy (first one :) soundcard with latest drivers installed.
This question / problem has been solved by brasopimage
Hi Stereod, this problem actually occurred when the game was originally released, and it appears they never fixed it in a patch.
I don't know if there is an unofficial patch to fix it. Personally i think it adds a bit to the charm of the cutscenes, but thats a bit of a cop out.
Since others (myself) have never had this problem do you think uninstalling and reinstalling might help?
Or is it due to a certain sound card?
I wish I had the answer, but this is the first I have heard of this issue.
Tried it with another soundcard, delays are still there, so I guess brasop answered the question for me.
Anyway this doesn't bother me too much, the game is still fun to play :)
is there a way to disable subtitles?

Seriously? I thought everyone had this problem. I've had it with several sound cards, and it's present in every Youtube-video of the game that I've seen. It's actually my main annoyance with the game, as the cut scenes are otherwise so brilliant.

It is hard for me to catch, so maybe I have had this issue; I cannot say for sure. I have never noticed any perceptible lag though when I have payed it.
Really? Notice Kabuto's roars, his (or her?) footsteps when he (or she?) stops in front of Timmy (or Akmed?), the explosions and gun shots, the space ship taking off. It's all completely out of sync with the image.
Actually, I shouldn't make you aware of this, as it'll start bothering you too, but I selfishly want to know whether it really can be fixed. :)
You've never noticed? It's kinda hardcore here on my machine, sometimes the sound drops out completely, sometimes there is a 5 second lag, sometimes the characters don't talk, only subtitles are visible...
I remember playing it without any delay in these cutscenes yers ago on Win98 pc, when Giants was released with one PC games magazine.. Though only the menu is working in the version from the old disc now, and gog version has these sound delayes.
Heads up people, I created a fix.

The sounds in the cutscenes have a layered sturcture. There's one audio file for the ambient sound effects that are out of sync, another one for the speech and a third one for music.

I took all the audio files of the ambient sounds layer of cutscenes, and CHANGED their sample rate from 22050 to 22380.

You may do it yourself too, or you can download my fix. The key is to CHANGE the sampling rare, NOT CONVERT.
This means that they are played back 1.5 % faster. This way even the long cutscene of Kabuto's first appearance stays in sync till the end.

Here's a 7z. Replace the Stream folder with this one and have an excuse to play this amusing game once more :)

The link is in the image file I attached.

PS. why was this post marked solved previously? ... Well now it really is.

The file is no longer available. Could you upload it again if you still have the file?

Unfortunately, the user that uploaded these files vanished without a trace and removed his upload a while ago. We have not yet been able to backtrack it.
