It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I just remind myself, that however long 2.0 has been out, all this feedback has been available and to my knowledge not a thing has been remedied. Allot of these complaints came within the first few days of it being out. They have made zero efforts, that I'm aware.
I still use 1.2 version. When it shows popup about update now or later I don't click any of these, I just close the client and relaunch it again. it's annoying but if you're in the same situation and have no means to stop it from updates, just don't press any of these buttons.

Hello, I want to ask,- does anyone know how to remove the blue stripe at the bottom (Galaxy version 1.2.67), which sometimes appears at the bottom line? It has some message like - "Your version is old, please update version of Galaxy".

I haven't found a solution to this either.

obliviondoll, thank you for reply. I don't know how they (Gog team) do this. I have already look over all folders of Galaxy, that I know, but I don't saw nowhere such background (blue color) and text :(. So, unfortunately, don't know how to disable this "banner".

My assumption is that the client is getting the banner from GOGs website and it is not coming from inside the client itself. I verified this theory (at least partially) this by installing older clients (1.2.64, 1.2.66) and I still got the blue banner displayed.

So i assume that GOG, at some point after the release of Galaxy 2, decided to display the banner in all 1.2 clients, maybe depending on the user-agent, the Galaxy-Client provides with his request? This would mean that GOG could disable this "feature", if they wanted to, which they obviously don't.

Looking at the lack of reaction to anything that happens in their own boards, i strongly doubt that the banner will be removed ever.
Just did fresh re-install and deleted all client files (only "Games" folder left).
After install, i not-run client right away. Hex edited "GalaxyUpdater.exe" data to all zeros (filesize untouched).
And run first time.

How Hex edit "GalaxyUpdater.exe":
Location: ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists

Eg. use HxD, open that .exe with HxD and ctrl+a, Edit>Fill Section
1: pass
(o) Hex-values: 00

Press OK, ctrl+s

From logs i see:
"[Warning][ (0)] [TID 10320][galaxy_client]: Failed to retrieve lock file contents ('C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\lock-files\GalaxyUpdater.exe.lock')."

Let's try, if it updates overtime (hope this is only galaxy updater, not also for games :D). Btw and Client and Update exe's have same lines "2.0BetaEnabled"
And update message is not stored in Client and Update exe's, also can't find in any files.

EDIT:
Works fine! This exe is only for updating client.

Yeah, as the other posts have stated already:
Galaxy is, essentially, a web browser with some more features tacked on. It displays the store and game pages that exist online, and like all browsers, sends the "user agent" value (name and version of web browser) to the website in the process. That's how that works.

So it's literally an element of the web page itself. Only way to remove it would be to either change the "user agent" value Galaxy is sending when requesting the website content, or edit the website content HTML after getting it, much like a Firefox addon could in Firefox. Neither of these things are possible / worth the effort, really.
For update notification 100% confirmed is from web.
Found in cache data, whole client loading from https://embed.gog.com/

P.S. still no forced update so far, so nice..

Thx for the thread i really thought i would be stuck with 2.0 for the rest of my life.
Everything working well so far.
Managed to download all my games minus 7 of them whom are stuck at some % again.
Don't know how to fix it under 1.2 though if anyone has an idea i'm all ears.
Here's the list : Anvil of Dawn / Commando BEL / Commando BCD / Land of Lore I / Land of Lore II / Land of Lore III / Stonekeep

Edit: well managed to get everything back now thx to manual installing that DOES WORK on 1.2, not like on 2.0 which i had tried before reverting. One more reason to go back to it.

The annoying blue nag bar at the bottom of the screen is gone, at least for now. I had initially followed the instructions provided by the OP to revert to v1.2.67 on my Windows 10 PC a few weeks ago but hadn't used the client at all since then, so I can't say when the blue bar disappeared. Earlier today I installed it on Windows 7 (fresh installation) and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of blue bar. I closed and relaunched the client, still no blue bar. I also checked on Win 10, no blue bar. I hope this means it's gone for good.

@Sootopolis
This annoying blue bar shows and disappears randomly.

That is disappointing, but thank you for clarifying. It was there for an entire week after I reverted, but I suppose it was too much to hope for that it would be gone for good :(

@BlackSun I forgot to say this before but thank you very much for posting this guide, it's most appreciated.

I didn't expect me to go back to 1.2 as well but here we are. 2.0 is a big, slow mess that forces me to interact with so many things I don't want to use. Personally, I do own around 2,6k games on steam, "only" 200 or so on GoG and 400 more from Ubi, Epic, Origin and XBox. This launcher takes ages to load my library even if I cut off all syncs because I simply want to play the games I bought on GoG. I tried to get along with it for some time but the syncs broke so many times and I waited more in loading screens than actually playing a game.

Okay, this might be me exaggerating but I can't stand it anymore. My tower could still somewhat handle it with 32 GB and a SSD. Still, the client eats way too many ressources. My laptop, which I mainly use for older games or when my gf uses the tower, always needs minutes to get started with the galaxy client. If people want these options - fine, let them have it. Personally all I want is a client to updates my games. If they completely block 1.2, I'll also go back to using update links as many before me already wrote.

Kudos to OP and his great explanation that worked for me right from the start. I'm really disappointed that GoG did not anticipate this kind of backlash. I read some articles that GoG 2.0 somehow made their gaming experience incredible which totally baffles me. It still starts the other launchers and in my case it takes ages to load all these games I never asked to have put together. It's quite the opposite. I enjoy playing different games on GoG, Steam or whatever because there is often a different mindset. Sry for that wall of text but I really got fed up with this.

Again, many thx to OP and all the others in this thread. Happy gaming!
