I have had GOG for some time now and have bought a nice amount of games from them, but can't seem to get an invite, ( Yes I registered ), plus this has been sending invites for several months now. What gives?
One thing I've wanted for eons, was to have at least an option to have the friend list visible at all times AND attached/docked directly to the primary Galaxy UI window, more or less in a similar look/feel/function to how it works in a Discord server. Where a good UI can be done in panes, I prefer it over multiple windows cluttering the screen like some 1990s horror story like MDI. :)

As such, I have to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for adding this exact feature to Galaxy 2.0 recently GOG! It is exactly how I wanted it to function more or less, and having partial integration of other platform online status etc. is icing on the cake. I look forward to seeing the feature(s) mature in the future.

I also like how it is collapsible/expandable via a simple toggle button.
I just got around to testing gog 2.0 so here is my feedback

Games
All games/Installed
under "Customize grid view"
*please add release date
under "Sort-by"
*please add reverse release date (sort by oldest to newest instead of newest to oldest)
*in the overview bar, swap overview to top left with activity. the overview should be the 1st thing i see when i click on a video game cover art
*add gog store reviews to each game page
*add individual forum to each game

*add forums to left side bar (i realized now that i can pin the forums to the left bar but....)

search
looking up a game, sometimes a buy box appears and its broken for some games. for example, "hellblade senua's sacrifice", a buy box appears and it doesnt take you to the game page but takes
you to the "All offers" page

QUOTE: "search...looking up a game, sometimes a buy box appears and its broken for some games. for example, "hellblade senua's sacrifice", a buy box appears and it doesnt take you to the game page but takes

I think I know why that is. Some games are no longer sold, or no longer sold in a certain format and the store page you bought it under no longer exists. Still, there should be a fix for this.

I Second you on these:
*Gog Store Reviews to each game page
*Individual Forum for game to each game page
Additionally:
*Add sort by Purchase Date

*Custom Tag sort with And/Or/Not
I may want to tag some games as Adult or Children, for example. I want to sort with simple parameters.
Example:
I want to see the RPG type games that are set in Space that are Child friendly.
1) I filter for RPG. I get sword and sorcery and space and everything rpg.
2) I filter for Space, I get shooters, Simulations, RPG's, etc.
3) So I brightly try filtering Space and RPG. But instead of games fitting both criteria (AND) I get hard coded OR (fits either criteria). All space shooters, sims, rpgs, and all RPG castles and space and all. Anything with Space OR RPG in it I get.
Hard coded OR makes filtering for tags very very limited. I'd like the option to click on AND so that it has to meet both qualifications and be both an RPG AND SPACE game.
4)Next, I think, 'well a work around is to tag games SPACE RPG's. It's only one extra tag per game right?' Not so fast... I wanted it to be child friendly. So I'd have to add: Space, RPG, SpaceRPG, SpaceRPGCHILDFriendly, SpaceChildfriendly, RPGChildFriendly...

So yeah, with 400+ games, that isn't a work around. And I could have made another few numbers up there but that should be enough to explain the point.

It doesn't have to be too complicated or indepth a filter system. Just a little flexibility would make it where people with very large libraries could manage tags specific to their needs.

At the least, instead of hard coded OR, hard coded AND would suit the idea of FILTER better.

There should be a sort order switch for everything, because why not? If you're a completionist and go for trophies it'd be nice to sort ascending to see what games you haven't completed, and vice versa for games you have.

I know you can filter for genre and custom tags, but it'd be nice if you can just use the search bar too, it might be a little quicker.
Also, when you group games it gives you the big collections of 30 genre tags, it'd be real nice if you could just right click and collapse or expand all from a pop up menu instead of manually closing them all or a lot of scrolling.

In the Grid view I'd like to be able to show release date under the title in "Additional Data." You can group by release date, but before 2010 it goes by decades instead of individual years, which is annoying. Make a group by decade if you're going to do that.

Now that I look at it, I can put release date, critic ratings, and last played in the columns on List view, but not in Grid View.
I can do company name and installation status in grid view, but not in list view.
Grid view has game time and achievement % in the same bundle, list view has them separate.

There's no good reason for these to be limited to one over the other.

Since your Atlas Update, none of my GOG games except for GWENT show up in my library. When I do a search of my library for games that I bought on the platform it says that I need to buy the game; however if I do a search in the store it says "In Library". When I try to scan for games in my GOG directory I get a message that says GOG games not found. I already added two tickets on this issue and have not received any responses back. I have enjoyed most of the new features that 2.0 have brought with it but this is a major issue. Please fix.
Can we get the website-feature "sort by: purchase date" in the galaxy client?
I keep getting an error message when I first log on to my desktop that says GOG Galaxy update was not able to be installed. How do I manually install it, and how do I find which version I'm even using?

dreadgazebo: So you're asking for GoG to break Steam's DRM? Even if they were able to make it transparent somehow so that you weren't inconvenienced by witnessing Steam launch first, a Steam game would still need to be launched by Steam in the background.
avatar
Randalator: I don't think he's asking that. It reads like he wants to know if eventually Galaxy will be able to launch DRM games silently with the necessary DRM services (Steamworks, etc.) running in the background but without launching the actual client itself.

From a technical standpoint that should be possible but not without cooperation from the respective platforms.
Considering most Steam games use no client-side DRM, why the hell not? Games only fail to start without the Steam client because SteamAPI will not init.

Unlike CDProjekt, Valve is completely open with their API specification and multiple client replacements already exist. Just wrap SteamAPI internally and instead of failing SteamAPI_Init (…) at startup when launched w/o the Steam client, implement the Steamworks API yourself. The glue holding the stuff together is not DRM; Steam has actual DRM to offer, most games do not use it.

I would second this. I don't care if it can't be done for games from outside the GOG store, it's the only view I use for GOG.
The missing sort by purchase date in the gog library of Galaxy 2.0 is the biggest show stopper for me. I really miss the feature. I also hate how I set a filter, click a game on the filtered list and if I go back, my filter is reset. That suxx.

+1
Totally agree! Sort by purchase date was one of the filters I used most...
just fyi the patch notes are bullshit and the bookmark issue is worse than before
HTF do you regress Galaxy? I updated to 2.0. now it won't run my games, I have to go to the folder containing the executable and run it manually WTF are you even doing?
Where is the sorting based on purchase date?
How is it possible that a new version of the Galaxy app is worse than the previous?
Forget that last question, answer me this one: if the new app is shit compared to the old one, and it is, why do you force people who did not join the beta, meaning they don't want to use this all-in-one garbage option to install the new app by auto-updating the old one?
Maybe I can't install GOG 2.0 because I am italian using an italian version of windows
How can I regain access to all my purchased games?
