I have the same problem here.
Running on MacOS Ventura, and this is my sole GOG account. I don't have other user login on my machine, and turned the VPN off, and I still get the same error.

I hope the dev would do something about it.

Same problem here on mac M1 Mac Os Ventura

Does GOG Support still Alive ?

Galaxy error - Connection to communication service was lost - potential fix Galaxy 2.0

It seems like a lot of others were having this problem on various forums, so in case anyone does a search, here is what worked for me:

1) win+r and type services.msc

2) find "galaxyCommunication" right click - properties - startup type set to 'automatic'
OK, close, etc.

you may have to reboot to get it to take effect, not sure.
Might work for you, might not.

Got it from Reddit

Worked for me, but I manualy started the service while the client was opening, because didn't want to reboot at that time.

I found a solution for macOS, and at least it helped me.

After the Ventura upgrade, one of the GOG login items was blocked from starting up during the MacOS start.

Settings -> General -> Login items -> Ensure both GOG items are enabled.

I can see two login items: GOG Galaxy and GOG SP. z.o.o. The second one was disabled. GOG Galaxy booted up only after GOG SP. z.o.o was enabled.

The solution posted by DraganGaic worked for me - although the GOG SP.z.o.o. item was active.
I was able to start GOG Galacy after deactivating and re-activating the launch item.

worked for me also. thanks for posting this!
Thanks DRAGANGAIC! I was able to get mine working. It was helpful to get the exact location sine I still can’t find anything in the new Mac OS settings window.

THANK YOU !
For me the connection issue was fixed by repairing installation of Microsoft Visual C++. All of them for sure. After that it was fixed.

Thanks, @DraganGaic
This actually happened to me on a clean Ventura install. Somehow both login items were disabled.

This didn't work for me. Found this reddit post that did work for me.
https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/rhxmqb/gog_galaxy_connection_lost_and_shuts_down/

I went into terminal and ran
/Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/redists/GalaxyCommunication. After that GOG would load.
