Same issue here, and it has been persisting for ~3 days or so. Never anything like this before.
Windows 10 Pro 21H1 if that matters.
I don't have the problem yet but it does seem a bit strange, When i have any type of network error like this one mentioned, I check my network is running ok, Maybe reboot my router or update it just in case.

Also i check for any new windows updates and then when all else fails i report my spec's and everything I've tried into a thread such as this.

My understanding is if the developer knows what's been tried and maybe what type of systems are being affected then maybe it'll help solve this mystery/problem.

Anyway good luck with this. :)
As I understood CD Project Red will do nothing with this issue:
"Connection to Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown."

I have this error on several Macs (intel, M1), every time. No matter was it a new Mac or the old one. GOG just doesn't work.

I just can't use GOG and my stuff there.

So I should relay on Steam and Epic from now on.
Hello. I am a long time GOG user, but I just installed GOG Galaxy 2.0 and I am getting this error. I tried several solutions (like setting GalaxyCommunication service to Automatic). Since it is such a widespread issue I would expect it to be solved somehow.

Edit: I have actually found a solution. I have CryptoPrevent installed and I initially added the Program Files executables to the whitelist. That is not enough. You need to add all executables in c:\ProgramData\GOG.com\ too in order for the GOG Galaxy 2.0 client to work.

Has anyone resolved the issue? I have the same issue on my desktop but it works on my laptop
It use to happen to me when Windows updates itself

The workaround that works for me is resetting the winsock function

-open the cmd screen as administrator
-type netsh winsock reset
-accept and restart windows
The latest error I'm seeing in the logs is "Loading web page error: login"
Interestingly enough when I copy and paste the auth.gog.com URL from the log into a browser I get the login screen

So what's causing the login widget not to load in the client?

There also an entry just before the error of "Did not find a value under the preference key 'previewBuildsEnabled' while reading" what the hell does that mean.

Would be nice if someone from GOG would actually monitor this forum and provide a response for these type of issues. Especially since there are multiple posts referring to the same problem
This is incredibly frustrating. Started getting this error recently. I am trying to access GoG Galaxy via an RDP session -- the device I'm using is headless, in a closet.

the netsh winsock reset didn't work and rebooting didn't work. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work. What else?
I'm getting this as well.

I'm on a new laptop, Mac Monterey. I did the TimeMachine and GOG wasn't working - fine, I had jumped ahead on which version of OSX I was using. I uninstalled, and then put a new version of GOG Galaxy. Everything boots up fine, but the moment I scroll, it flashes up the error message and shuts down.

I even deleted Galaxy and reinstalled it, and I still get the error. Exactly the same wording, exactly the same timing, all of it.

I don't have any antiviruses or anything installed at the moment, no VPN, nothing.

Anyone know what's happening, or how to fix it?
Im getting the same on Mojave. This is very frustating. I've bought 13 games and I cant play none!
anyone cares about this issue and would help maybe ?

I am facing the same issue on Mac Os Big Sur 11.4 (20F71)
Same issue here (OS X 11.6.1). Worked fine a few months ago.

I don't know how I did it, but I got it to stop the whole "Communication error, I'm going to crash now thing".

However, every time I try to download a game, it instantly fails. It creates folders on my harddrive, but won't install anything.

I contacted the support about it a couple of days ago, but nothing so far.

Seems we're all just stuck waiting for them to get around to fixing whatever this is.
I also get the "Connection to Communication Service was lost and could not be restored message." I'm on Windows 10. The "netsh winsock reset" command and reboot fixes it temporarily. The issue comes back eventually and is perhaps triggered by GOG Galaxy updates. It's maddening. Not sure I want to buy another game on GOG until this issue is fixed.
Please whoever it may concern, I have been having gog galaxy store problem for two months now. Loss of connection message. I don't know how I did it, but I got it to stop the whole "Communication error, I'm going to crash now thing".
