If you have Hyper-V enabled, try turning it off, it worked for me.
I just went through troubleshooting this error and from reading many threads about it, I think multiple scenarios can cause it.

In my case, the problem was that I was launching GOG Galaxy via RDP. When launching GOG via my Windows 10 laptop console, the error didn't occur.

Interestingly, if I launch GOG Galaxy via the console, then close it, and relaunch via RDP, the error doesn't occur....this behavior persists until a reboot.

Tried running it via RDP today for the first time, and was immediately suspicious of this failure (I use it frequently locally and never had an issue).

It's a bug that will probably never be fixed, but certainly should be. As others have noted, you can simply ignore the error (do not dismiss the error dialog) and it works fine.

Also works fine if you don't try to install games from your work machine. :)
Currently have this problem after yesterday's update. I can't ignore error window like some pointing out. Reinstall Galaxy doesn't help. Thinking to report this to support, but wonder if anyone already did that?

I have run into the exact problem just now. I too cannot ignore the error message. I am forced to shut down the app.
Same problem.
Rebooting PC, reinstalingl Galaxy- not help.
It's on Gog end. Same here.
Same here, in my case, yesterday my computer was shut down due to a power outage at my neighborhood, so I went to sleep. Today when I start happens this problem only with Galaxy (Steam works well and the other applications I had opened).

May be due that wrong shut down? Or it is a general problem? I'm on Windows 10.

This is the message:

"Oops! Something went wrong. Click below to log in to GOG Galaxy".

There is nothing to click, the rest of the window is black.

Many thanks for the confirmation, due the problem I had yesterday at shut down, it is a release to know that it was just a coincidence.
I cannot believe this still happens.

Updated GOG today, got this message. AGAIN.

And why the hell this connection so matters to quit the app?

I am switching to Steam back. F**k this s**t.
Same here, what is with this crap.
The same is occurring to me, in my macOS Big Sur 11.4.

The shutdown because of a connection issue is bizarre. I understand they might consider I am trying to hack GOG but they should consider I am an ordinary customer and let me use it offline somehow.

Also the website troubleshooting tell me to send a report trough Galaxy, that is, of course, impossible. I tried the auto chat... is that what they call the AI that will take control of the world?

Completing my disappointing, I will join this group of poor abandoned customers...
Same problem. It's very confusing, but I'll give him some time. The client is trouble-free on a notebook or another PC ... In fact, I copied all the files from there - Program Files / P. Data - but it still doesn't work (running but same error message and shut down). I don't want to delete it completely yet (uninstall + registry) but in the end it may be, only then will all accounts need to be restored. Anyway, I had several problems with the Steam connection, the client also asked for the Steam ID, which is quite "interesting".
