Heroes of Might and Magic series, Farcry 1&2, Prince of Persia series, Settlers 3, and many more Ubisoft games 50% off, until Tuesday, May 21 at 3:59AM GMT

So, we've heard you like variety. We can relate, everyone loves browsing and picking their favorites. That's why we thought Ubisoft catalog would make for a terrific weekend promo. You can pick and mix from a selection of about 40 [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/ubisoft_weekend_promo_170513]Top Ubisoft Titles, 50% off this weekend. Games of all age, shape, and size await you in the promo page. Whatever your taste in games might be, you'll find something nice and exciting to make your weekend more entertaining. Let's take a quick look at one or two titles, shall we?

Heroes of Might and Magic is a game series so prominent, that it surely needs no introduction. In fantasy turn-based strategies it's quite hard to find a match for this legendary saga that challenges our strategic and management skills since the year 1996. Based on the successful setting of the fan-favorite classic cRPG, Might and Magic, it achieved a great balance between accessibility and complexity that resonates perfectly with gamers. After all these years Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete Edition is still considered by many to be the perfect 4X turn-based title. Some fans, however, prefer the more modern Heroes of Might and Magic 5: Bundle, that takes the beloved mechanics into the beautiful realm of 3D graphics. That's only two titles, though. All of our Might and Magic games, strategy and RPG alike, can be found 50% off in the promo page.

and [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/far_cry_2_fortunes_edition]Farcry 2 introduced a new quality to the First-Person Shooter genre. With large, seamless locations, varied environment, open-ended gameworld, and a healthy dose of realism (just enough to make the combat believable, while keeping it entertaining and fast), it gave the shooter fans the best kind of story-driven sandbox experience. It's also worth noting, that the graphics in both games look excellent even now, years after release. If you enjoy FPS games, these two undoubtedly belong in your GOG.com DRM-free collection.

Right, let's stop here. We don't want to spoil the excitement of discovering what other gems await you in the promo page. Well let you find out that games such as Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, and Rayman Forever are also 50% off this weekend all for yourselves. Ooops. Let's just pretend that didn't happen. You should go to the promo page, now. The promo lasts until Tuesday, May 21 at 3:59AM GMT.
Might and Magic 6 pack is probably the best value deal in the promo.
24 games for $111.76 crikey :) Hopefully GOG will also get the original Prince of Persia and possibly the sequel.
Ah well. So much for getting Far Cry 2 last weekend... and barely playing it so far. =/ Shit happens.

On a positive note, now I can pick up the newer(ish) PoP. :)
Imperialism does sound like my kind of game. Having never played and sorry to say, barely even heard of it before, if one or more of you has the time to give me some brief advice. If I could only get one of them, which one is the one to get and why? Thanks.
Warlord Battlecry 1&2: Are they really worth playing when you've played the 3rd on to death already?
To anyone considering it, get Rayman Forever! It's a great platforming game with nice graphics, amazing music and a tough difficulty! I got it at a 50% sale some time ago, it's instabuy for me ;)

Magnitus: Warlord Battlecry 1&2: Are they really worth playing when you've played the 3rd on to death already?
The second one is a must, the first one... Is a little aged, so there's some small odds you won't like it. Still, for the price, you're not risking much :P
So why am I tempted to buy Imperialism 2, when I bought Imperialism aaaages ago and haven't yet touched it?

How do you find that it differ from the 3rd one in a positive way?

They look so similar...
Okay so Might & Magic 9, Settlers, a Tom Clancy or a Rayman?
Maybe even a Prince of Persia...
What do my GOGlodytes think?

Second one is less story-driven, and more about conquest. You select your race, then you go to a strategic map and start conquering, until you conquer the world. Also, the RPG system is a little different.

Couldn't tell you if they're "positive" or "negative", but I like both if it helps.
GOG fellas, how similar is The Settlers II: 10th Anniversary of Knights & Merchants (I know the frist is older, with enhanced graphs, but I´ve already played the K&M)? Thanks.

JaqFrost: Hmmm. Apart from Beyond Good and Evil, what should someone get...? What are the Prince of Persia games like? Is there any sneaking or some such?
It played the Prince of Persia trilogy on Nintendo Game Cube a long time ago, so I can give you some feedback :)

PoP: The Sands of Time: basically it's a platformer, you have to find your way through the buildings, running, jumping, chimney climbing, wall running... it's a bit like Tomb Raider, but with much smoother controls IMO.
There is a simple fighting system a well: attack sand wraiths with your scimitar to weaken them, then finish them off with the Dagger of Sands. That dagger also grants you some neat special powers, the first one being the ability to reverse time back 10 seconds by consuming some Sand from the Dagger. Useful if you made a mistake, like missing a jump and impaling yourself on piques below... Thus the game is a bit more difficult than your average platformer to compensate.
However it definitely recommend it if you like platformers. That game was a landmark in its time.

PoP: Warrior Within: same basis than Sands of Time, but darker atmosphere, evolved combat system (free flow combat, which means you can smoothly attack, grab, throw ennemy, throw weapon, pick up ennemy weapons, with different stats in damage/throw/durability, jump from ennemy...) with makes the game more like a Platformer + Beat them All.
It's also much harder than Sands of Time, even with the Reverse Time ability (gather your courage on the first boss fight, which is about 10 minutes after you start the game), but it has many epic moments, especially when you have to escape your Nemesis (if he catches you, you're dead, period. Well except if you have some spare Sand).

PoP: The Two Thrones: like Warrior Within, but with enhanced sneaking abilities: if you manage to properly place yourself behind/above an ennemy or group or ennemy, you can make a single/double/(or even triple!) stealth-kill: the Prince will whirl automatically from ennemy to ennemy and you have to place your attacks in the right timing (one button QTE). It can be hard when you take on 2 or 3 strong ennemies which require 3 or 4 hits each to be taken down. Fortunately you can still reverse time in case of failure. Stealth-kill are not required, but are quite rewarding, especially the double and triple ones (finding the right spot, timing your attack, and watching the Prince gracefully jumping from one ennemy to the other... as long as you have the right timing), and will make your survival easier because the ennemies become very numerous, strong and harmful over time (3 or 4 successful stealth attacks in a row to kill a strong one without facing him, remember?).
Like WW, it's also pretty hard sometimes (hope you have all Sand tanks full when finishing the chariot race, because the Twin Warriors aren't forgiving AT ALL).

To summarize, I recommend you try at least PoP: The Sands of Time, and if you enjoy the game type, are not afraid of some serious challenge (and want to know more about the story), I recommend you pick up WW and TT as well. Those two ones can be very frustrating because of some very hard parts (do not expect to play them with keyboard + mouse like you could in Tomb Raider), but are excellent games as well.

Regarding PoP 2008, I haven't played it but had bad feedback about it: your female friend will constantly watch your back, which means you can never die falling. It's like having an unlimited Sand tank, that totally ruins the challenge.

kneekoo: When I saw "Price of Persia series" in the title I hoped I would see the first two games - the DOS ones. They're not here, sadly. I wish I had those.
I can confirm the very first Prince of Persia is included as an easter egg in PoP: Sands of Time, by breaking a wall near the end of the game, at least on the Nintendo Game Cube version. You also have access to PoP 3D with a special code at the very beginning of the game.

Are you trying to convince me or something? Dammit. I thought my wallet would pass this weekend unscathed, now I'm just not so sure.

I started playing Settlers after I ninjad K&M never having played the genre before. The trip is I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of the Settlers games and I despise K&M. Everthing K&M does wrong Settlers does right; better pathfinding, road structure, building structure, resource structure, maintenance. In K&M your troops and workers would just up and go eat when you were in the middle of an attack. WTF!? Thank god that doesn't happen in Settlers and that's but one small example.

Settlers 2 in my opinion is a little jaded on graphics but still great. I prefer 3 and I'm probably going to be burned at the stake for saying that, but in the words of the Black Knight, "I've had worse!"

OOPS you said 10th Anniversary. Well same game only scratch what I said about graphics. The graphics in 10th edition are beyond gorgeous.

and I'm still waiting on an answer pertaining to the SP Campaign of Settlers HOK, anyone?
