EMERGENCY BULLETIN

BREAK BREAK BREAK

NORAD HEADQUARTERS HAS DETECTED SUSPICIOUS TRANS-DIMENSIONAL ACTIVITIES ON SENSORS; SUSPECTED INFESTATION OF NONCORPOREAL ALIENS IMMINENT

Prepared remarks from CENTCOMHQ
Good Morning, Gentlemen

As of 0615 hours this morning, we have confirmed massive signs of a noncorporeal invasion force that is determined to directly hijack our entertainment and slowly invade everyone's minds. Fast work by some of our Unusual Circumstances SpecOps team has funneled these aliens into a containable area, though. We have managed to secure them in [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/square_enix_weekend_promo_130913]a select list of video games--specifically titles like Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Thief™ Gold, , and [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/square_enix_weekend_promo_130913]a few more--and the non-corporeal aliens are currently inhabiting the enemy A.I. routines. That means we can find them, we can fight them, and we can kill them.

The space-time rift that the aliens are using to invade is unstable and our physicists project that it will close on Monday the 16th September at 23:59.59 Eastern Time. CENTCOM has arranged for a video game retailer to steeply discount the usual price of these titles to facilitate intervention--they're all 60% off for the duration of the invasion.

You've been contacted because you're part of the elite few who can handle an assignment like this: we need you to buy these games, install them, get in there, and kick some alien butt. The world's counting on you, soldier.

Go get 'em.

TRANSMISSION ENDS
Nice, two games on my wishlist are in the promo, Project Eden and Deathtrap Dungeon.

I'm thinking about getting the first Hitman too, as I never played it back in the day. But then I saw the Hitman 2 gamecard. Does the sequel actually "improve on its predecessor in almost every way" like the gamecard says?

Crosmando: The PC version of MGS is the best version too
Best version how? The controls are worse, a few minor things from the original weren't included (e.g. ghosts) and the FMV clips only play the audio component.
Lovely blurb for the promo, keep it up guys.

Controls are exactly the same from my memory, going from a controller to keyboard always is awkward, it's the same with all console ports. As for the FMV component, you mean the cut-scenes? They play fine for me. You might want to look that up.

It's superior because the PSX version plays in 620x480 resolution and in a very crude hardware mode that looks equivalent to the PC software mode. The PC version can run in up to 1024x768 resolution with graphics card acceleration, which makes the game look much, much better and smoother than it does on PSX.
At last I got Thief gold on the wish list.
Thanks GOG!

JUST now getting Thief? Go taff it up right now.

Also, this promo rocks. Nice to see Project Eden and Deathtrap added.
I'm thinking of buying Hitman 2 and Thief 3. I never played any of the games of these franchises, but I'm curious about them and wanted to finally try them out.

However, I really don't like the early 3D of the earlier games, I think they have aged very badly... so I don't think I could force myself playing them.

Can anybody who has played the earlier games tell me if I would I miss much of the story if I skipped the earlier games? How are the stories connected?

I have played thief 2 and 3 and hitman 2, and I can tell you there is no problem. In thief 3 there is a few remarks about the previous game, but nothing really important, just a bit of background and you didnt have to know nothing about the previous game (in fact in thief 2 you play agaisnt a faction that you can ally in thief 3, so there is not any important tie).

I also played hitman 2 and didnt miss no playing hitman 1 I mean I dont found nothing "what they are talking about" section or similar (well I played hitman 1, but just the first couple mission, when the challenge increased the no save feature was a killer)

Indeed. I manage to reach that drug lord in mission 5 but then I read on the net that he can take like 300 shots of a machine gun. Anything more than 1 bullet from a hitman game and the game is broken IMO. :(
Great promo! I wondering why Square Enix releases stopped?
Thief 2 is mine at last!
Why I never heard about Startopia, beign a DK and Theme Hospital fan??? It looks AMAZING!
Doh!! I forgot to grab the two games on my wishlist, Project Eden and Deathtrap Dungeon. How did I forget that?
