Stole from my wallet and gave to the GOG.
Can't say I have heard much of this company or games. Will check it out.
low rated
would be nice if you could match or beat Steam prices for some of the games here

That's a pretty tall order.

Steam has a variety of ways to handle crazy low prices better. They can push the fact that you play a cheap game to your friends, encouraging them to buy also AFTER the sale has ended. They have higher volume to wring much more out of a temporary reduction. They have a platform to push the advertisements of their sales to all their customers.

With GOG you don't have to tell people what games you're playing. You don't have to use a controlling client. There's no DRM to prevent you from sharing your purchase (except your morals). So you pay a dollar or two more for a much more free experience.

If you see your freedom as worthless then the Steam prices are generally going to go lower. If you don't then it's a personal judgement to make.
I just got some of these in a Groupees bundle, but I figured I'd pick up what I don't already have for my Xbox 1. Never got around to installing them on Steam.

if i saw my freedom as worthless i wouldn't even be here in the first place. i want GOG to beat Steam prices so that i can promote it more freely. unlike console gamers, most PC gamers nowadays don't care about DRM. a lot of people even prefer Steam over DRM free alternatives like GOG, because according to them it is convenient to manage, uninstall, and reinstall the games at the same place. (GOG's client is a pretty barebone downloader, and does not list the games i own.) if i tell these people that, "dude GOG is having a sale on XXX games and all games are DRM free!", and Steam is selling the same games 50% lower than GOG prices, these people are not going to be interested. i choose to buy games here even when Steam has better prices because i want to be able to freely backup my games and not depend on some remote server to reinstall/play the games i own, but i'm definitely in the minority.

nowadays pc gaming is in a weird state, full of denials and contradictions. on the one hand you have increasingly invasive DRM (Battlefield 3, Diablo 3, SimCity, etc.), on the other hand you have rampant piracy. and pc gamers are divided. you have a bunch of sheep who are willing to take whatever insulting and restrictive DRM being thrown at them, and you have a bunch of thieves and criminals who just download pirated games for free. i am among those who got driven to consoles because i do not want to support the Draconian DRM and i am not willing to steal other's intellectual property.

i love GOG's approach and i support and promote it as much i can, and hopefully more people will see its value, enough to turn the tide. as for now, i play AAA games on the consoles, as there are no DRM free alternatives on PC. i'm not hopeful though, as most people are not moral, and if they see an easy way to steal without being caught, they will steal. and the only reason piracy on consoles is not as bad as PC is because it takes some effort to mod your consoles before you can play pirated games, and the console makers (Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony) actively find and permanently ban consoles that are found to have pirated software.

and yes Steamworks is a form of DRM. there are Steam games that are DRM free, in a sense that you can freely backup your games after installation and do not need to use Steam to play/re-install the games. but most Steam games use Steamworks, and many have other layers of DRM attached.

Those people probably wouldn't buy the games from GOG anyway, no matter what they cost here. Well, maybe if GOG gave them out for free, but even then they would be bitching about the "missing" Steam key. :)

Just a quick recommendation:

I bought Post Mortem and Still Life on Friday and I've spent the weekend playing both.

While Post Mortem is nothing more than an average adventure game (it's not bad, it's just not that good), I have to say Still Life is one of the best adventure games I've played, and I've played a lot.

If you like point-and-click adventure games, I think you'll love Still Life. Plus, you don't have to play Post Mortem before it. You can just start with Still Life and leave it at that.

Thought I'd mention it before the sale ends at it goes back up to 10 bucks :)
I used to play all my console games on a 14" TV that I bought in high school. For me, it was always fine until I bought Siberia & Still Life for my XBox. It was impossible to read the text in that game on TV that small, so I finally had to upgrade to the 32" low-end HDTV that I still use now.

That is the impact these games have had on my life. :D
Thanks for the sale GOG, I've finally added both Syberia titles to my collection and grabbed Haegemonia in the bargain (hurrah for an as-yet-unplayed-by-me space RTS).

Some good recommendations posted here. I didn't realise that the Atlantis titles were by Cryo. They are the masters of surreal gaming, with the crown jewel being Commander Blood. May have to get the first Atlantis game now, given how many reviews emphasise its lack of rationality.
