Omerta: City of Gangsters, a 1930s mafia simulation with ruthless tactical turn-based combat and wonderful era-appropriate score, is available now 50% off, for only $19.99 with the DLC included free. This offer ends on April 8 at 10:59 PM GMT.

Omerta: City of Gangsters is an atmospheric game, a game where you battle it out tactically and strategically as you attempt to wrest control of the city from the other mafioso. It's a game that is more than the sum of its parts, and here's our top 6 reasons why you should check it out:

1. The atmosphere. The atmosphere of early 1920s, brutal gangsters' world, and brilliant soundtrack should appeal to all the fans of the era so rarely depicted in video games.

2. Visual presentation. Graphics, art style, pictures, portraits, maps, and the city all look great. And you do not need a high-end machine to play it.

3. Fast-paced combat. As Tim Stone fromPC Gamer wrote: "Shotgun blasts shatter furniture and send clustered foes reeling. Molotov cocktails loop through windows. Hoodlums lean from cover cradling chattering Tommy guns."

4. Engaging Story mode. The campaign has a very well driven story with some twists and turns, interesting characters (with two additional henchmen from the DLCs), and wonderful cutscenes.

5. Better than Ever. The game has been patched already and a big update with new maps, more customization options, and additional "Iron Man" difficulty was promised by Kalypso.

6. Free DLC. It's now $19.99 and with two DLCs: The Bulgarian Colossus and The Con Artist for FREE for everyone who has purchased the game.

Sold? Great, then get Omerta: City of Gangsters right now for $19.99 and get all the available DLC packs free.

All of you who have purchased Omerta: City of Gangsters from GOG.com will be able to get The Con Artist DLC for free. Just add it to your cart for $0.00 and check out! If you have purchased this DLC separately, please contact our support and you will get a code good for any $5.99 game for free.

To be fair, the guy had a lot to make up for considering his own made up Gamer's bill of rights, stated this:
2. Gamers shall have the right to demand that games be released in a finished state.

and he made posts like this:

"Also, to anyone, like you Ben, saying the game (Elemental) is like an 'early beta' then well, please stay away from our games in the future. I consider it ready for release and if others disagree, don't buy our games."
Only to have to admit the launch was very poor ("The game was released poorly. Head in the sand syndrome imo." - Wardell) and remade the game twice now already (FE and LH, and LH still has the same memory leak Elemental had when you reroll a new game over and over..., though by now I consider it to be a 'good' game at least )

I have preordered this game not so long ago.... And now it's already 50% off.... Must be because of all those bad/poor reviews... I haven't even downloaded the game, but I'm sure I will have some fun with it. So many people made bad comments about Inquisitor, but I enjoyed this game for quite some time - honestly I gave up before finishing Act 1, but at least it had a dark atmosphere and despite being a Diablo clone was quite unique (heaps and heaps of quests, fast levelling up, tough battles), it had good music as well and despite having poor visuals and some boring mechanics it was quite entertaining.
So anyway, I'm quite sure I will pre-order some games on GOG anyway, that's easy for me, there are always spare coins on my bank account, but to have enough time to play all those games - that's tough....

Mivas: All these comments "Now it's too pricey, now it's too cheap" are silly. Honestly, people. In my opinion, Gothic series isn't very good and that's understatement but I don't keep posting about it in Gothic's announcement threads.

Promos are simply nice way how to reach customers who want to play the game but with different price-tag. Take it or leave it.
The fact is that people will only pay a certain price for a certain product, and if they think something is overpriced for the value it provides, then they wont buy it. When people don't buy a product the product either fails and is withdrawn from the marketplace, or the price is lowered in one manner or another to encourage people to purchase it. Dropping the price by 50% and including the DLC seems to be an effort to stimulate sales of the product, which makes total sense to do. It may very well work too, or it may not have much effect - all they can do is try it and find out. Judging from the reviews of the game on GOG, Steam, various other sources though it's a hard sale at $20 whether someone thinks that is silly or not. ;o)

Between your two choices, "leave it" would appear to be the predominant market choice so far. ;o)

If the regular price of the game holds stable 3-6 months from now then that would likely show that there is enough sales of the game at that price point that they think it is profitable to continue selling it at that price, and use promotions here and there to stimulate sales. Certainly might work. People here including myself are just expressing our own thoughts about it though. There might be 50 people who think the game is top notch and worth double the price for every one of us who thinks it is overpriced for all we know. Our feedback (good or bad) is very likely something useful to both GOG and to the developer though as it is an honest connection with the potential end customer. That's been my experience anyway when I was a developer. You take the good with the bad, learn something from it, change gears and move forward.

Expressing an opinion is good, so the opinion is heard. But why do I see people who says they will never buy it in New Release, DLC survey, and sale announcement. Same thing by same person in three different threads and yes, I think if someone never buy the game, why keep posting it in sale thread which obviously isn't targeted at them?

It reminds me of people who rage in New Release if GOG releases some game which isn't good according to them. Do they want GOG to censor itself and release games which are only Metacritic 90+ or something?

And off the record, the gameplay of this game looks like Godfather, so I don't plan to buy it.

Well, I for one am will probably give this game a try at some point. My backlog is currently enormous. I am also very surprised that the DLC is coming along for free. I am moved by how quickly and seriously GOG took the survey they posted. Another reason why I'll forever buy from here over other places.
Hi guys!

I tried the demo of Omertà and I judged it with a "neutral thought", no crappy game and no AAA game, but it didn't worth 40$.

So I said to myself: "Wait for a sale or similar". (And when I saw the DLC at 5,99$ I thought: "a sale with the DLC!")

So now I'm in the middle, buy it or not?

I liked the game as a good "hobby", not with the game to play every day.

What do you think? Wait for a 66%-75% sale?

Ah, another thing: the demo that I downloaded had the Italian Language (written and spoken) but on GoG and on Steam, Italian isn't in the listed languages.

So, what is the truth, is there Italian or not?
I think that the reviews of the game need an update in light of the new patch. I would be really great to hear from some of the players who cited shortcomings in the game about how they feel things stand with the new patch applied.

Two cents,
Legion
After reading the majority of the reviews on this site and watching Total Biscuit's review of the game on Youtube I gotta say I won't be buying sadly. The combat looks like fun, but that in itself doesn't make a great game. At least for the type of game this is supposed to be. Game looks like it has good potential but doesn't live up to that potential in 90% of the game.

GOG... you truly are wonderful. Sadly, I've no intention of buying the game, but doing this for your customers after all the flak the DLC thing got is remarkable and commendable of you.

Just for this, I'm gonna look at your catalog later at home and buy a new game that I'll likely leave on my shelf for ages before I have time to play it, but I'll do it because you guys deserve it!
Thank GOG for this hurried answer on Omerta. I give it back 3 on 5 (I had downgraded to 2 for the DLC):
that's not a bad game, but not a very good one for now (I wait for the promised big patch).
It reminds me the release of DeusEx2: Omerta has disappointed on many features.
Devs were wanking on their beautiful town, but we even don't see it ingame if we want to play the game.
They showd us old cars, but we can't drive them (save for the special shooting by) even we're becoming very rich.
Past the disappointments, there is still an incomplete some nice game.
As I already wrote, the game with the big promised patch could be a 4 on 5 game, deserving at least $20 (even $30?), if DLCs are free.
They really did a bad release, but the game could slowly being numerously sold on the time here, if they patch the game and don't bother with selling DLCs.

wtf steam puts the game on sale at the same price now

By same price, you mean same discount, right? Cause it costs €22.49 on Steam instead of $19.99 on GOG. Though the 2-pack is probably better value for money, assuming you find someone else wanting a copy.

$19.99 according to SteamPrices. So it's us Europeans that get shafted, and twice this time.

The only difference is that Steam still has you pay for the DLC (minus the 50% discount) and GOG is giving it to us free with the game during the promo.
