All it's missing is a Belmont!

Valdis Story: Abyssal City, a sharp-looking metroidvania-type platformer, with dynamic fights full of eye-candy, and RPG elements adding another layer of depth to the gameplay, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's $11.99 for the first week!

It started off like one of the ancient Greek tragedies. Years ago, the goddess Valdis was killed by her daughter, the dark goddess Myrgato. Death, however, is something completely different for the immortal deities than it is for us, mortals. The name of the Goddess was never forgotten, nor shall it ever be. In absence of the mother goddess, Myrgato has been at war with her twin sister, Alagath the deity of light. This perpetual war is fueled by human souls that the gods use to create their warriors; Myrgato twisting souls into demons, and Alagath manipulating souls to create angels. Each day the remaining human population dwindles as they are forced to choose a side or die. The time has come to put a stop to the supernatural tyranny. With sword, and sorcery, the chosen champion of humanity must fight back.

Valdis Story: Abyssal Cityis a new and exciting metroidvania-type title that takes inspiration from the best 16-bit console action titles, both in aesthetics and gameplay. This side-scrolling exploration platformer tasks you with conquering an ancient, forgotten city full of supernatural enemies. The game focuses on combat, and lets you heavily customize gameplay by developing the skills of your chosen character. Whether you choose to dedicate yourself more the path of sorcery or swordsmanship, this exciting and dynamic title is ready to offer you a worthy challenge.

For a grand story, many colorful location, items, skills, and challenging, but fair gameplay resembling the most memorable 16-bit console classics, grab Valdis Story: Abyssal City, for only $11.99 on GOG.com. The 20% off release discount offer lasts until Wednesday, November 13, at 10:59AM GMT.
The game page is a 404, fix fix fix!

edit: It is fixed!

I downloaded the demo a while ago, but playing on a gamepad the controls were a bit crazy and unresponsive. I could see the combat was great though, especially when I took off my weapon and found out I could do counters bare-handed.

But I hear that was an older build, I really want to play this game, just need someone to vouch for the gamepad support on this version.
Barry will be happy as Valdis was one of his wishlisted items :P
This game looks amazing.
Looks good.
Do we get the announced additional characters?

I backed this game and have it on Desura, but i just found out it wont support my plain logitech gamepad LOL. Keys seem to work ok. Can rebind both key and controller keys etc. Seems to be ok response using keyboard...
Well damn, already bought this on Steam on release date but definitely would've wanted from here. I really recommend getting this if you like challenging metroidvania style games, but gamepad isn't ideal for this in my opinion because down activates dash/skill cancel and especially on analog stick it's really easy to accidentally push the stick downwards a bit in the middle of combat or when platforming, and it just screws everything up. It's a great gameplay mechanic and can be used in many different ways, but on controller it's just not that great. Keyboard controls work perfectly though.
Awesome to see this here! I've been playing this the last couple of days at Steam and it's a great game, backed it when it was on kickstarter.

It doesn't support mine to so I just use Xpadder.

In the beta at Steam you can choose d input support, with that you can choose "Skill Cancel" as a separate hotkey. I think they are planning to add this in the next update but there was some issue with d input and some graphics card.

I played Valdis and I think it was the final build already with the Xbox 360 controller. The controls were very responsive but I personally recommend playing the game with something that has a better D-pad than the Xbox 360 game pad :)

Not sure as I haven't had the chance to take a tally lately. Lots of releases as you can see :)
Well, it looks decent, but I'm skeptical. As usual. If this is another one of those "unique and heartwarming gems" that a toddler can beat before nap time, I'm not interested.

I'll see what I can find out today.

shouldnt that be "not sure as i dont get breaks - and the chains are pretty restrictive when it comes to leisure!"?

If this is the only game that give your gamepad a problem, I doubt it. If you use Steam try the latest beta with d input support and see if it works without Xpadder first.

According to Steam Discussions there's an issue with the game if you use a Logitech F310.

It's not that short (I haven't finished it yet but I'm close) and it's definitely not easy. It has that pattern seeking idea that if you know what you are doing you could, theoretically at least, complete every scenario without taking any damage even on the hardest difficulty (there are 4). That's not something I'll ever bother with though but it has a rank system similar to some later Mega Man games where you have to finish bosses on time and without taking damage to score the highest.
