Royalty among real-time strategies.

Tzar: The Burden of the Crown, an elaborate and masterfully executed real-time strategy driving its inspiration from the history of medieval wars, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Many people imagine the life of the monarchs to be simple and blissful. There's no higher authority, so there's no one to tell them what to do. They can decide to spend their days feasting, dancing, hunting, and pursuing other frivolous activities. The thing they don't understand is the weight of the crown. Not the actual weight--that's quite bearable, even though many rulers would much prefer a simple felt hat, then a layered construct of fine gold and jewel stones--they weigh no less than regular stones, mind you. The metaphorical weight is far greater. The burden of the crown is the burden of the ages. As it rests on one's head, so does the whole history of a nation: the past, the present, and the future. To tell you the truth, the latter feels the heaviest, today. Excuse your Tzar this moment of chatter, Field-marshal. The battle is upon us, let gods make it the last one.

Tzar: The Burden of the Crown offers the best in real-time strategy gameplay with a believable setting and nice sense of scale, and just a splash of fantasy. The three factions available in the game--Europeans, Asians, and Arabs--differ greatly from one another in terms of gameplay style and available facilities. The main campaign spanning across twenty scenarios grants many hours of challenge and excitement. When it ends the game provides an infinite number of randomly-generated maps, and a solid multi-player mode.

Accept the greatest responsibility and take a nation's fate in your own hands in Tzar: The Burden of the Crown, for only $5.99 on GOG.com

Maverick1988: Oh, sorry. My bad. Really, I beg pardon. I'm such an ignorant. ): I just assumed that everyone got the pleasure to play it and wondering why GOG didn't bring the Anthology edition. Now everything seems clear. Thank you very much.

Anyway, just for the sake to ask... isn't that easy as just paste the campaigns in the folder, bundle it and get the job done? Or the deal is just the vanilla game and nothing can be done to bring the Anthology?

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate so much the GOG effort releasing this and that Tzar is here sitting between the bests of the genre! It's just that sometimes I feel a bit sad when something comes 'incomplete'. And this time I felt somewhat disappointed seeing that it was just a vanilla version :0

Ok, don't mind me anymore. *Shut up mode activated*

Ghorpm: It's not a problem at all! I'll gladly answer. Correct me if I'm wrong but AFAIK those campaigns were not for free when they were made so GOG couldn't just paste them. Later on they were sold as a gold edition in Spain and Italy. I guess the publisher paid them some money to include them on the CD. I can imagine that making a deal with them now would be very difficult. And I guess there is a problem with a language too. Is there an English version of those campaigns?
FX Interactive is the one in care of Tzar with those editions (gold, anthology and single ones), translations and voice-overs and the one who has the rights to distribute/sell the games on those regions. I assumed at first that they got this from the devs and then done the job of translating and adding the voices like almost every other game they got in catalogue. That's why at first I thought they were oficial and everyone could or had played before.

But you are right. They're 'semi-official' and unlikely they might be in english.

Well, thinking about it, wouldn't be that hard to translate a couple of bobble dialogues / mission objectives and delete nor add a new voice-over for the campaigns. Anyway I don't mind anymore. It couldn't be done? It's ok. With the editor you can do everything. From creating single-player maps to full campaigns if you want, so... Everything is alright. :P

So... what are you waiting for? ;) I'd love to play them! I thinking about translating some of my campaigns too and posting it here (they are in Polish at the moment).

I would gladly translate them in a moment (or a day) and share them. But I'm not so sure if I can do that since those campaigns aren't free, so... yeah. Ngh. ):

The digital edition of the spanish version can be bought in the fx online store...for those who speak spanish or already know how to play the game...this edition is a good start.

Cheers...

Yes, it is. And even the Anthology via digital cost a lot less than physical. So, yeah. It's pretty recomendable.
Daw! Now I feel sad that I never got to play these campaigns. Are they downloadable in Spanish/be included with the GOG version?
No one else feels that post #97 is spam?

I see it as a good advice. If you speak or understand Spanish its a great deal.

For 0.95 euros (~1.3 dolars) you get DRM-Free:

- Tzar: The Burden of the Crown
- Exclusive Campaign (The Excalibur and The King Artur)

I don't think we're talking about the same thing here. What are you refering to?

EDIT: Just notice the post has been deleted.

My mistake. I thought you were talking about post 94.

How did I mistake 97 with 94? :(

keeveek: What a great release! Sadly, I don't have any free funds now, but I am going to get that eventually. :-)

Amazing release, GOG, keep up work like that!
Why is this low rated?

Probably because some people who think they are better than all of us thought it was a beg for a free game. I'm not surprised, really. The numbers of elitist pricks on this forum is too damn high lately.

A shame if true. I have gotten a bunch of free games from the generous folks of this forum and I have nothing but respect for GOG.

Hopefully this place never becomes too mainstream. :P
